I'm talking just for the paint, no labor.

You can buy a lot of krylon for $1300. And change the color every year!

Also, you're better investing in a more expensive and better job than a cheap one you will have to do again in a year or two. Better to pay once than pay twice or triple. In the long run, cheaper will end up more expensive than a pricier better job!

Oh yes that sounds about right. Labor will be 80% of it.

You use sheets of vinyl and apply heat to them to “warp” them onto body panels.

If you’ve ever seen vehicles that are completely covered in graphics and/or pictures that’s vinyl wrap. But most people would do just normal colors.

Has anyone just done it themselves? I have an HVLP gun and am tempted to just go for it since mine is covered in rock chips and grand canyon-esque scratches. Seems the trickiest part is prep and mixing the paint correctly, the actual spraying isn't that complicated.

Spraying isn’t hard. It’s the prep and body work associated with it, and you need a really clean place to do it. You can make your own paint booth in a garage with some wood, plastic sheets, box fans, and HVAC filters.

Do it yourself is th cheapest way, no matter what method. I'll put it this way, my truck was perfect when I bought it, kept up by a very meticulous dude. It was keyed up bad like the 2nd week i had it. never fixed because I didn't want to dump that much in 12 yrs. ago. Course, I had no idea the prices of trucks would skyrocket, I thought i'd be in something else for sure by now....anyway....

    yea, tiddies!

Even as many easy to correct mistakes made, it turned out decent.

Most of the mistakes was just getting stuck and not being able to work around it. Like not removing lots of stuff. Really that's time comsuming but easy.

If anyone has questions about a wrap just make a list of them for me and I'll answer.

Except that everytime I've had a car painted in the past, it was wrecked soon after. Some of that was me, some bad luck.

Kept the same color on mine,,, total job was $3400 or $3000 cash, went with the cash payment,,, pulled all the glass because I didn't want any surprises in the window areas all new seals, and a lifetime guarantee on the paint job from fading or burnt clear coat. I'm well pleased with mine. If I could post pics I'd show you. This was done in Crosby, Texas. I found one body shop I think would have done even better but the wait list was at least a month and his estimate was $5000 but still good for a lifetime paint job and they pull all the glass on every job, this shop was in Baytown, Texas.

Very little body work as far a whiskey dents or rust through,, body was straight,, about the only thing it had
was a burnt clear coat to the point of real light surface rust on top and hood, it had some small dents, pebble size, I assume from rocks.

I have been thinking about a wrap for a little bit but never looked real hard into it.
Can you do body work when applying a wrap or does the wrap have to be applied onto paint? I guess the solution would be cheap paint to go over it before wrapping?
Does it tear instead of scratch and if so how easily?
Do you have a suggested video or information site to look at for more knowledge?
