hah, figured out why my steering wheel was crooked.

Even though the alignment shop got my alignment done perfectly, they didn't torque down the top nut on the SPCs and one side had come loose. The camber was way off. Just fixed it in the driveway and now it's straight again.

I'm not 100% sure they messed with the SPCs (they said they'd use them if they needed to) but I did adjust them myself the day before, but I torqued both sides down to 150 ft/lbs like the instructions say. I checked the other side too this afternoon and it was starting to get loose, needed to be re-torqued as well.

Guess I'll have to keep an eye on them...that means I wheeled and drove 100 miles home on the highway with my camber way out of whack yesterday.

I love the regular cabs but I don't know how I could make one work for camping/wheeling trips, my xtra cab is usually packed full to the roof in the back seats when we go on a few day trip. Would probably just have to get even more creative with the bed space

One of each is good, seems to work for me..haha though I'm looking for a double cab to swap franks stuff over too. Just haven't found one that's a good deal.

The UP 4014 may be the only reason I have to go out west. Its a shame it will never see the east coast most likely. Guess N&W 611 will have to do for now.

Was it still double heading with UP 844?

I doubt a lot of east coast lines could even handle a locomotive that large. I wanna say the largest steamers that worked in my part of the country were the N&W Y6B's and they were no where near the size of a UP Big Boy. Unfortunetly I dont think there are any plans to reactivate any of the Y6's that are in museums either. 6b64e202427459e71d1c708efc943de6.jpg

Id think the curves and overall tighter corridors back east would limit where it could go. Also whenever they tour the NW 611 or Pere Marquette 1225 (real polar express) they make a lot of stops in smaller towns so I imagine its just easier to restore the smaller steamers for the sake of being able to move them easier.

7 more hours of welding on NWTI rear bumper. Of course that's a little welding, and long wait time. This really pushes the limits of my little Lincoln welder!

Who has aftermarket skids? Looking to beef up the mounts for my BudBuilt skids, but curious what others have done. Saw what @turbodb had done after his LCA mount came undone. Curious if this gap is too big to fill with a weld...

    20190512_200712.jpg

What say you? Have you filled this? What other preparations have you made before mounting aftermarket skids?

I finished welding in the passenger fender well. And seam sealed it. I also cut the passenger fender and painted the exposed edge with Rust-Oleum. I have some edge trim to go on when the paint dries

That's totally weldable. Run a couple beads if you have to. Looks like about the gap I welded on @Digiratus.

Not sure, I don't know about anything about RC stuff really. You can order it online though as far as I know

I don't even use the LCA mount bolts for my Budbilt skid anymore, just the front bolts and the rear ones under the steering rack. Haven't had any ill effects from it, but I do wish I had beefed up the skid back when I got it. It's twisted and banged up pretty good.

Here is about as far as I’ve gotten this weekend with the supercharger install. Lots of vacuum lines are old and cracked so I’ll have to replace those too.

    DC34BA70-B800-4317-A241-A24057E26CCF.jpg

Next up is changing out the valve cover with the one from LCE. I’m switching over to the Pink 2001-2004 injectors and I had a hell of a time finding seals for them, have to go order some from RockAuto.

I changed the fuel filter while I was in there. It astonishes me how people can change it with the intake manifold on.

I will be using this washer fluid tank from a 1997 5-Lug for the Methanol. The one that came from AEM is too large.

    F56E2CAC-26DD-4B2F-AB57-0D7A446AD224.jpg

Speaking of the Meth injection, I have no idea where to put the pump. @1997tacomav6 whats your setup like?
