Dealer over torqued all lugs

Hey all, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I had my truck in for the last “factory” warranty service a few weeks back. Oil/ rotation etc... Anyway, fast forward to today and I attempted to take my wheels off to get a good cleaning of my ucas/ and grease the bushings (total chaos) and I couldn’t even get any of my lugs to as much move. Tried with my impact, wouldn’t do it, took out the breaker bar and as much weight as I could put on it short of standing on it wouldn’t get them to budge. I broke out the longer bar and it moved one... well broke the spline lug clean in half and now I can’t get the rest of it out... tried every single lug and they’re all over torqued and won’t budge. My fear is that going to the dealership who over torqued it would lead me nowhere but pissed off and my issue won’t be solved. What do you guys think? Take it in and try to be calm with the service manager? I have an extra lug key and tried to grind the edge down enough to fit in the recess of the wheel (don’t know how to explain this) and it don’t reach the broken half of the lug. What to do. I’m not gonna go there today bc it will leave me nowhere (VERY pissed off at the moment)

 

Take pictures, document phone calls and names, take it in and explain to them what they did. The sooner the better.
Hub may have to be removed, taken to a machine shop and drilled out. Not easy and won’t be cheap. Dealer should
be responsible and cover this for you.

 

This is why I always make it a point to tell the service advisor that I do not want pneumatic tools used on my wheels. I specifically tell them that I want the wheels hand torqued to 90 and then go watch them.

 

Damn that's brutal. Try to stay calm when you speak with them, and good luck is all I can say.

 

I have never been to any dealer or mom and pop shop that pays attention to what the lugs should be torqued to. I always have to loosen and then tighten them back to regular torque. Pisses me off tremendously. I also found a dealer signing off on the vehicle inspection sheet that everything was good and that they had done everything including fill all the fluids... popped the hood and no fluids were topped off at all, I wouldn't be surprised if they do half the work they say they do half the time anyone brings a vehicle in... ToyoGuard my ass... Unfortunately we live in a world where if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. If you think it's bad now, wait until the next generation is running things...

 

That's why you demand that you be allowed to monitor the work that is being done to your $30k investment. No one touches my vehicle without me watching. Every dealer I've been to has allowed me to watch the work that is being done.
