btw for those who don't have bed stiffeners...this guy ended up having to replace his bed because it spread too far and cracked.

 

If you get tired of grinding it will teach you to weld better

 

We have a little cordless one as well, but it's not the "animal" version. It's great for stairs and spot cleaning.

From a structural standpoint, I think the bed rack I have (weld together All Pro) inversely stiffens the bed. I just don't see the rack itself spreading apart at the bed rail level. That being said, I don't ride around off road or on road with the tent mounted. Only when we go camping. Thoughts?

 

I agree. I believe bed racks, or bed bars do act as sort of bed stiffeners/supports. It's usually the camper shells, which also flex, that cause the bed spreading.

For me, 100$ for never having to worry about it was worth it..

 

yeah the stairs was a game changer for me for sure. also being cordless is great, though you can't vacuum the whole house on one charge. the time it saves though I'm more than willing to hit a room or two or whatever every couple days and not lump vacuuming the whole house into one day.

Yea as long as the rack doesn't have a constant load on it all the time you should be fine. But when you have the money i would just go a head and get the bed stiffeners just to be safe rather than sorry.

Well yesterday when I was working on the tire carrier, I decided to jack the front end up and check for play in my wheel bearings. Discovered my Driver side Front is toast. Ordered a pre assembled hub with bearing and all the seals from eBay. The seller uses all OEM components so I'm hoping for a an easy swap when it comes in. Here's to hoping that this is the source of my incessant "humming" coming from my tires.

When I was doing some research, I came across that he made pre assembled hubs as well but for now, ordering through ebay was quickest and easiest. If I've got more time next time this happens, I'd rather go with someone like Bill but I'll be happy if these work out well. Can't beat the price for genuine Toyota bearings.
