I am fairly confident that if this does ever happen you are going to shell out the 1000s to get it rebuilt

    Like, so many.
I get it man! If I had a paid off 1st gen I wouldn’t get a new one either. The only thing that might make consider it (if I was in your shoes) are the safety upgrades. The new trucks are just on another level for passenger protection in violent collisions.
Like I said, I love 1st gens, they are just different trucks.

Likely. hahaha I keep all the fluids changed at regular intervals to better insure that that doesn't happen but if it did it would still be cheaper than a new vehicle. :D

Exactly why got my 1st gen. Enough power with the 3.4l to tow my jon boat, big enough bed for hunting trips, or a few dirtbikes. But I will say it can be a bit cramped in the back. I do not have any kids, otherwise I would understand the need for a 3rd gen or Tundra.

I'm one of the rare few probably that does NOT like all the upgrades in new vehicles. But I have to say I really drool over the 3rd gen looks and like I said, would be nice to get that little extra room. Especially the deeper bed! I've dealt with the short bed this long so I've learned to accept it but sooo many times I've wished it was a few inches deeper so things fit under the cover easier!

Same down here brother. I don't even bother to wash the truck as often because after one drive to work, its back too looking how it was before I washed it.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
I have had countless offers to.buy my truck. (I seriously couldn't even estimate how many times people have stopped me to ask)

    I would totally sell it.

No one has been willing to give me my asking price of $55,000 though. :notsure:

For the record I recently rented a 2019 TRD Sport double cab and it was very nice, drives itself practically with the fancy radar cruise control which startled me the first time it braked on its own lol. Definitely a great truck with lots of nice features, worlds ahead of my 2003. (didn't like the auto transmission but I'd get a manual anyway regardless)

There's something nice about the simplicity of the 1st gens. Also since they don't die easily that makes it harder to justify replacement. All that being said I'd happily own/drive any generation Tacoma - just don't have the need currently to switch up and wouldn't make sense for me financially.

i would say $18k (a dollar for every mile) but maybe MSRP sticker price in its day?

my truck so damned old I have NO passenger airbag
just an OH SHIT handle above passenger door that newer gens i don't think have
what do your passengers grab onto?

you would have to pay IRS capital gains tax on that!
