Yeah buuuut I'm of the younger generation and I'd still rather have my 95 than a new taco

my apologies, don't know what else to say, I shall re-word that!

    ...
i suppose only time will tell if the current 3rd gen owners will be happy keeping and maintaining them for 2 decades
perhaps they will be extremely low maintenance and perhaps they won't ... nobody knows for sure at this point (i think)
I would have to ask for a very VERY large extended warranty if I am 'forced' to buy one (i.e., my truck gets totaled beyond reasonable repair)

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I can see where someone would reason that way... but a lot of the "safety features", to me, is just more bullshit that can fail.

People have been walking away from wrecks in 1st gens for over 2 decades... and people still die in wrecks in 3rd Gens. And visa versa.

japs hit the U.S. back in the early 70's during gas crises. took awhile for small autos to catch on. by the 80's everybody knew datsun & toyota. japs are known for gas and reliability. U.S are know for BIG and horsepower. ive been in construction 35 yrs and owned many trucks. big trucks are for work, small trucks for errands and gas saver. my datsun and nissan were solid! trucks & suv/cuv's are replacing cars. owners want big with bells & whistles ! i dont get the medium truck (gen 2 & 3) market... why not just buy a 1/2 ton PU? im old (baby boomer) my gen likes luxury cars... trucks are for work!
i will replace my bmw with the lexus 350 sport. silverado will be replaced by the tss tundra. 1st gen taco... irreplaceable!!!

    i know... i'm old!

I think there will always be a market for the 1st gen that reminds me of the 1st (post-war) gen GM pickup with a loyal following and market value. They were simple and sturdy. Even when they were 20 years old, which was usually when a product bottomed out in that era, old there was always a following that would pay a high price for a clean example. This is still true today.
