Gonna be spending next week at the beach and plan to get in as much surf fishing time as Mrs Gunns will let me get away with.

    That said...
    What's biting?
    What baits/rigs should I use?
Any other advice that may help?

Haven’t been up there in a while, I’m usually on the east coast but further down south around NSB or around the Lagoon. My go to rig off the beach is a simple dropper rig with a big enough pyramid weight on the bottom to keep the bait from moving in the surf. I’ve been doing a lot more fishing with FishBites as bait, super easy to use. All you need is a bag of FishBites, a pair of scissors and more hooks/weights and a spool of mono to use to make more rigs and you can be out there all day

I surf fish, but not that far down south I surf fish in the Jacksonville area. If you have any general questions let me know I will try to answer them!

Biggest questions right now is what's biting and what bait should I rig?

I'm an idiot..... I don't know where my head was. That area is great for fishing. Pompano, whiting are the main thing people are catching right now. Some reds, trout, blues, and spanish (maybe). I would reccomend just some frozen shrimp on the bottom would do the trick. I would make some basic fish finder rigs and start there. If you have any more questions let me know

Thanks! We're heading down tomorrow so hopefully the weather will cooperate. Been storming here the last few days.

I was fishing the mayport jetty this weekend and a few places around it. I ran into a few flounder (only 1 keeper) a huge blue 30" and 3 spanish. However my buddy fished the surf and got a 16" whiting and 3 pompano and a few crap fish

Sweet. Hopefully I'll run into some luck as well.
