Background check help

I hate off topic threads like this but I couldn’t find any credible info on the Internet.

I’m trying to find a company to run one background check. It just looks like there are a lot of companies happy to take my money. I am hoping there are some small business owners or anyone with experience with these companies that can help me out

In PA where I live, all court records are searchable online. Not a full background check, but it’s enough to see what an individual has done in their past, with regards to legal trouble. Check if your state has something like that available.

A board member at my wife’s work was forcing a new hire on them. She was describing this individual to me, didn't sound good. Ran the name through that system, and found enough info to shut the board member up.

 

They all do that.

I am aware of the court record search. I’m trying to find out what an employers background check would look like. I’m trying to help a friend. We were getting the impression that some of the searches you can pay for just bring up information that is already available for free
