We were flying back from Seattle and were supposed to fly over airspace controlled by O'hare, but because of the fire in their control/radar tower everything was being rerouted, so we sat on the tarmac in Seattle for 90 minutes, took an extra-long loop through the South to avoid Chicago's airspace, and then missed our connection in Philly by 20 minutes and ended up with a 3 hour layover until they stuffed us into the next flight to Portland.

    Edit- Because of this guy:

I picked this up today, it was hiding behind the counter, passing on the Blanton's and Hibiki as I'm low on rye options at the moment. This is the 2019 single barrel/barrel strength release and is supposed to be very good (and not easily found).

Anyone have experiences with their barrel strength rye (past version or present)?

No experience, but curious your thoughts. I just won a raffle for some. It's a shop in Wisconsin, so I'm needing my cousin to go pick it up. I'll take delivery in June.

I really like Michter's stuff and expect this to deliver nothing short of excellence!

I hate Ohare. I have driven home in a rental car or been delayed several hours more than often than I have arrived on schedule from there. Last time I ended up giving three ladies a ride (that I had just met waiting the flight when we found out it was cancelled and would be three days before we could be rescheduled). Also made me miss my anniversary. My wife is still fails to see the humor.

You missed your anniversary and spent it with three other women and your wife doesn't see the humor?

Some non-bourbon drinkers can be funny that way.

Worked out, one of their husbands picked up all of our luggage and then met me close to my house. Our luggage caught the next flight but no person made it. I wouldn't have offered but we had been talking for a while and had several friends in common and was nice to have people keep me awake as we drove all night. Plus you would think three should have been easier to explain than if there was just one.

Where are you located and what's your budget? I don't mind keeping an eye out on secondary markets for you, but it's likely a raffle item if you are going to find one at retail.

Also, just to confirm. Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year is what you're looking for?

Yes sir! I’ve been hoping in the raffles and bidding in the secondary market. Thank you!

Both of these are quite tasty and both of the bottles pictured have been consumed.. the Saffell is good whiskey no doubt and I bought a couple backup bottles. The Bond and Lillard is also quite nice. I’m not one to usually pick out flavors but the B&L has a lot of vanilla and a nice creamy smooth finish. Not sure why it didn’t get as good as reviews as the Saffell.. either way both are a little spendy but still good wild turkey products. I saw batch 2 B&L in the shelf as well. Wonder if it’s about the same as batch 1..

I saw the WB Saffell at the Wild Turkey distillery when we were up there recently. It was around $50 for a 375ml and, with it being the first stop of our tours, I couldn't bring myself to purchase it. Didn't know a ton about it, but the WT employee brought me up to speed. I didn't think much about it beyond there. Recently, I've seen a LOT of people sharing posts of having a pour. Wondering what I might have missed out on!

    I acquired these today:

Had the Balcones Hichiceros in Denmark recently - I brought a bottle to gift my uncle and cousin for letting us stay at their place. Man, it was delicious. The local gentleman gave a package deal with the Barrell Bourbon, so I took it, too. Looking forward to trying that out.

I've only ever had their Barrell Whiskey. Picked up a Barrell Bourbon for a buddy not that long ago - I think it was Batch #018? It was around $75-80 + tax. The Hichiceros I recently brought to Denmark was $100 + tax.

I got these two together for $125 - no tax!

Hadn't seen that version of Balcones before. I just looked it up after reading you post. Seems to be very good and popular. I like looking at the reviews on Masters of Malt - interesting to read foreign reviews of American whisky.
