How much would you pay for a skewp hood?

Finally a red skewp but nowhere near me

 

Yay!!!! Tomorrow is the day!

 

I painted the scoop gloss black to start. I have a feeling I'll be changing to satin finish before too long.

I was conflicted on whether it should match the gloss of the paint or the matte trim.

 

That looks pretty sweet, I’m tempted to take my skewp and wrap it black myself.

It is done. Seriously love it. Paint still needs to cure, so no final wetsanding for another week. Color match is spot on.

 

I forgot to mention, the Aftermarket hood fitment was perfect. Lined right up, lines are perfect.

 

Looks great.

What was the final cost?

 

$450 hood with shipping, $200 scoop parts, $326 paint = $976

 

Need that scoop for the top mount intercooler.

 

Functional or Not. I like the scoop. Wish my 4x4 off Road came with one. That being said, I'll pay $500 for a trade!!!

I was originally looking at this to see if there was a way I could offer a cheap and painted swap option for people since I know there are a bunch. Since the flat hood can't be reclaimed or used as a core and these have to ship freight, I don't see how to do it for less than $900-1000. I wonder how low it could go if I could get a source for hoods. The paint shop could run batches which would save $. Maybe we could parts/paint cost down to $800, but then I have to consider my time as well. I would just want the $100 saved for my time/troubles.

 

Man what an idiot to pay $500 for a non functional scoop when the flat hood was probably in perfect condition.....

 

Its all in what makes you happy..kinda miss the skewp.

 

Didn't you buy a Pro grille and nicer rims?
Were your originals not 'functional and in perfect condition' or something?

The hypocrisy in this thread is insane. Unless you've never done a cosmetic 'upgrade', then you have no business judging what other people do. Especially when it comes to OEM factory parts.
