I totally know the feeling! I had a silver band for a couple months until I could get the black trim. (Old photo)

I drove a '91 back in high school. Wish I still had that truck. Manual shifter/4wd selector, locking hubs and ran like a sewing machine!

I had a 92 back in 2003, same color and everything. Loved that truck.

Not hard at all, there's a ton of YT vids on how to change your grill.

It's not too bad. Easy to remove the grill. Just a couple hex screws and plastic retainer pins, then a tug. It will seem like you are gonna rip something apart but you wont. Then some tiny phillips head screws holding the grill to the body surround, then some tabs holds the bezel surround to the inner grill. You'll likely not be able to sell the chrome so if the tabs break who cares.

Easy peasy. 4 bolts holding the grille in and 10 (maybe 12?) screws holding the trim in.

Yours is what pushed me towards doing this. I didn't want a PRO grille because too many of those around. I didnt see any aftermarket grilles that really excited me. There are a couple I would use, but not 300 dollars worth for me. When I saw you post a pic of yours, that was it for me. Keep the stock look but change it enough to enjoy.

As others have stated, real simple. On top you will have 2 bolts, 10mm., and 2 plastic rivets. Now, the video I watched didnt mention this and I dont know if it was a change for newer models, but along the bottom I had 4 more plastic rivets. They were hard to see, but when I had the top all out and the bottom didnt move, I knew something wasn't right. The plastic rivets just come out with a flat screwdriver. Once that's out you will have the whole assembly in your hand. I laid out the bubble wrap the trim came in and sat the grille on that to protect the paint. Several phillips screws and some tabs. You can release the tabs by hand or needle nose pliers, I used pliers and still didnt break any tabs. Snap the black piece in, put the screws back and reassemble the grille on the truck. Took me about 15 minutes, and a couple of those were admiring the grille before I put it back on.

Edit: There is not 4 at the bottom that needs to be removed. I removed 4 plastic rivets for no reason.:annoyed::confused::facepalm:

Pretty straight forward. What model is your Taco? Mine didn't have the 4 plastic rivets at the bottom. The two 10mm bolts, 2 plastic rivets, and the whole assembly came out. Don't know what to do with this chrome bezel now. I bet I couldn't give it away! lol

And thank you for your service by the way!

Will do. That's nice that you can take it off if you happen to not like it!

Bottom plastic inserts must be newer models.

*Note, those inserts are two pieces and are like a hollow nail with another nail inside. You are suppose to pull up on the inside nail then remove the whole assembly. I have seen guys just pry the entire thing out without doing that and that destroys them most of the time.
