Alright, so a good chunk of tree fell on the hood of my Ford today. Fortunately it’s all cosmetic, just a bunch of dents. Couple of questions for the experts here:

    1) Can aluminum be repaired with PDR or something? Or is the only “real” way to fix it by replacing? Think hail damage.
    2) Anyone have a recommendation for a really good body shop?
    3) Is a claim against my comprehensive gonna affect my premiums? I’ll ask the agent tomorrow but figured I’d ask here so I might know what to expect.

    1. It can be fixed but depending on the amount of damage it may be cheaper to replace.
    2. My some does paint/body in South Georgia and is really good but depending on where you are it may not be worth the trip.
    3. I've never had a comprehensive claim should never raise my rates but depending on your insurance company your mileage may vary...

In my experience, a non-driving claim should not raise your rates. Neighbors trampoline took out the side of my truck a couple years back. I tried to file under their homeowners insurance but that got denied. I had no option other than to use my coverage. My rates did not change.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Check out Huck’s new Dog House.

He has gotten used to being back there so often, he senses that adventure is near or some tasty snacks in the fridge!

Found him just chillin I’m there today.

Cool timing on my asking. I'd like to do it sometime. I've sort of loosely been researching it for a couple of weeks now. Maybe for Memorial Day if my wife doesn't plan for us to visit family.

There appears to be several road closures which should make it interesting re-routing around them but that’s half the fun. YouTube has a good amount of info on what to expect as well.

We are planning on driving out to Talladega NF after we reach the western end to spend Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully all goes as planned.

I have been planning on doing the GA traverse as well. Looks like the Trey mountain section is still closed but otherwise you should be pretty good

I am down to make this trek. Need to talk once you completed it, to find out how much of a pain it would be to pull the trailer.

Anyone here ever install the ratiotek trans kit in a second gen? Thinking about tackling it one day this week after work... If anyone has done it and would like to supervise, I’ve got a 6 pack for you!

Chris, I am only a little ways away from you. I can be on call as a lifeline since I just completed this about a week and a half ago. You can shoot me a PM and we can talk over the phone prior so I can hand off some tips. However, the write-up from @mightytacoman with help from @12TRDTacoma is a great place to read up prior to. I watched the IPT video multiple times as well prior to removing the valve body. If you get in a bind I can drive up from Fort Benning and help as well.

I've still got my .gpx files from our Talladega trip in December. Let me know if you need them. It's the same route SwellRunner did in his YouTube series.

What y’all think of the 40 on 40s! Rolling 1tons and full of flex. Did I mention the LS!

Pretty damn sick. I love the paint and rear NATO tails. Nice touch, well done!
