Anyone here use CBD? If so what form? I've been trying to decide which to get lately. I've got a lot of shoulder/knee pains and soreness. Thinking that a lotion/applicator would be best to hit directly on the spots that are the most sore, but also considering the tinctures/oils that you just drop under your tongue.

I work as a Physical Therapy Assistant, and I've looked at some of the research about it for those applications, and frankly, the research doesn't really support it right now.

This is what I've heard from medical professionals too. It's a nice placebo, AFAWK.

Interesting you say that. My girlfriend is a PTA as well, and she's told me she's seen research supporting it. I'm not looking for any long term solutions with CBD use. I just want some instant muscle relief. I usually surf in the morning before work, and my shoulders and lats are sore and tired and could use a relaxing. I would just smoke some herb after like I do on the weekends, but I'm not too fond of being high and having to work. My buddy had the vape CBD stuff I used a few times but the effects don't seem to last as long.

I do use CBD but not for training. I use it for sleep. I have both oil and gummies I take before bed, along with melatonin. I’ve used the lotions and ‘balms’ but at that point it’s just magic beans. No different than icy hot IMO

So you're sayin I'm probably better off getting a thing of BioFreeze for 20 bucks than a 750mg CBD applicator thing like this https://www.cbdmd.com/catalog/product/view/id/285/s/cbd-freeze-pain-relief-3oz-roller-750mg/

There is some research supporting it. But there's also some that doesn't back it up. So the general consensus is that its not reliable, or that there's not enough research to say that it is effective.

There is plenty of evidence that shows that CBD/THC is effective in reducing dependence on opioids, but that's a whole different ball game than joint and muscle pain.

I hope that with it becoming more accepted and legal across the country, that more research will be done, and it will be eventually shown to be generally effective, because I would rather people use that than rely on OTC or prescription painkillers for their muscle and joint pain.

Also I have to say that it would be most beneficial to find out why your pain is occurring in the first place, and address that, rather than try to treat the symptoms with analgesics or any other product. Although maybe you have, I don't know. I do ultimately hope that your pain goes away though.

I should clarify that it's not constant pain. And the pain I get is mostly just soreness and tightness usually and from 12 years of volleyball. I don't stretch enough and I sit too much. I've been getting back to stretching a bit more for my shoulders and hamstrings. My girlfriend does soft and deep tissue massages on my paddling muscles a couple times a week at home, and I use a Hypervolt too.

Like I said though, I'm not really looking for a long term problem solver. I just want something to help wind down/relax the muscles after a surf or good workout. On weekends I just smoke some weed, but I don't want to be high for work because then I just want to go and take a nap

Exactly. Get to the root of the cause. Don’t just look for a bandaid temp fix.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you're not looking for a long term problem solver, you're always going to be in pain. Unfortunately the long term solution is often building a habit of stretching and strengthening. I wish I could help you identify your problem areas and movement dysfunctions, unfortunately its impossible over the internet.

I get wanting something to just relax and wind down though, and if it helps you do that, then I say go for it. It can't really hurt, so there's no harm, as long as you understand its limitations, and don't build some kind of dependence on it.

I have a balm and put it on and it just felt like icy hot so I wouldn’t spend the money on the CBD up charge. I like the oil for sleeping and all the gummies. And luckily my mom is in to it too so she always buys it for me when she goes to refill :D

No rude-ness taken. My main issue is just tightness and inflexibility, which my girlfriend yells at me plenty to stretch more. I just get a lot of knots in my shoulders/rotator cuffs which I try and get massaged out as best I can from either my girlfriend or lacrosse balls or hypervolt. I don't really have "pain" more of just soreness though, and it's due to my lack of staying active and moving throughout the day. I took too much time off from being active and got tight again. I've struggled with flexibility my whole life being tall and not being proactive enough to stay limber. I really just wanted the CBD to wind down after a surf really lol and was trying to just find out if anyone takes it and has a preference on what works best for them.

I might try some gummies or something else. I just smoke a nice bowl before bed time and then I'm good for the night ha! What brand CBD gummies do you use? There's so many out there now.

Sounds like you know what you need to do! Foam rolling and stretching after my workouts has practically saved my life lately. No longer get that debilitating soreness after my heavy sessions.
