2018 limited chrome bumper and blind assist issues

Anyone having issues with blind assist and chrome bumpers? Been told by dealer will not work but 2018 and 2019 brochures list chrome bumper. Is this a quality assurance problem? Safety issues not a concern? Any one else having issues? Please help

 

Blind Spot Monitors (BSM) are only equipped on trucks with color-keyed bumper caps, not chrome. It's part of the technology package, which is an additional add-on. Chrome bumpers are found on trucks without the tech package.

 

Thank you for for your response.Im still confused .Here is photo of brochure. It clearly states chrome bumpers with bsm. I was told chrome interferes with sonar .

 

The brochure is wrong. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that when I purchased my ‘17 Limited.

What color is your bumper?

 

I've never heard of a Limited with a chrome bumper...seems like this write-up is confusing two trims. You have pictures of the vehicle in question?

 

Wow so they lied in 17,18 and also 19 brochures? How can toyota get away with it? My 18 limited is silver. Chrome inserts were added at dealer. By the way they lied about chrome bumper it is chrome plastic not chrome. Maybe tacoma limited owners should file a suit for false advertisement. I am dealing with corporate as how they plan on resolving it. Did they offer any compensation on your 17 ltd ?

Seriously!? I suppose next you’re going to say there’s no actual cement in the Cement paint, or quicksand in the Quicksand, that the Magnetic Gray Metallic isn’t actually magnetic, or that my Hickory interior isn’t made from trees.

Compensation for what? I removed or replaced every bit of chrome on my truck, so they did me a favor by providing color-matched bumper caps.

Are you actually having issues with BSM?

Yes with chrome caps bms does not work. I don't agree with your thoughts on chrome.When they advertise in their brochures chrome features on parts of the truck and put a plastic chrome bumper and say its chrome ? Hope your bumper never peels

 

Thanks LifeExplorer! You are correct. After research I found packages offered and technology package does need a color coded bumper. I have been going crazy. Im getting those color coded bumpers put on. Man I wish they were real chrome!

Blind spot monitor only works on plastic bumpers not metal ones. Chrome bumpers can’t have it
