BakFlip MX4 vs. Undercover SE vs. Decked Drawer System

Hey all,
First, I just wanna say how nice it is to be back in a Tacoma....the new truck is everything I could ask for (well almost everything...I do miss the Fender stereo from my GTI, but even that's a correctable issue lol). Among the priority mods and additions I want to make is a cover for the bed. I have previously had the Undercover SE on my Ram and like it a lot, especially for the water resistance. Originally it was my first choice but looking at the BakFlip, the MX4 is starting to grow on me, especially with the idea that I don't have to totally remove the cover to have full access to the bed of the truck when necessary. I'm also considering the Decked system as the water resistance seems to be pretty good also and would fulfill my needs of having a dry storage area for the stuff I normal keep in my truck (fire extinguisher, flares, gloves, work related stuff and such like forms in a saunders holder). Obviously it would also give me access to the bed for the most part too, whatever I put in it would just have to be strapped down pretty well.

What I'm looking for is anybody who owns either the bakflip or the decked if you can chime in and give me your experience with weather resistance and theft resistance. I know the decked is pretty good because you'd have to get the tailgate down to access the drawers, and having owned the undercover I know while it's possible to brute force your way in it's going to create more attention than a thief would want. I'm just curious to know if the MX4 is the same way?

i am happy with the MX4...as per water tightness...its still a bed of a truck, I guess...but no issues for my daily use.

 

I looked at the bak flip before going with the undercover. The deciding factor for me was how they stored in the up position. The bak lays against the glass while the undercover has struts that hold it in the upright position. Love it. Can't speak to the decked system.

 

The MX4 doesn’t exactly lay against the glass, it has adjustable rods that keep it against the cab/glass.

 

Correct. Lay was a poor choice of words. Li know it has a rubber padand all. But i went with the no touch. 90 degree up right undercover. Can't go wrong either way. It's the same company. Truck hero. Just a slight difference in the two.
