how to pre-order 2020 TRD PRO?

I still think alot of it has to do with the silly Snorkel.

 

Same, but I figure it’s because of the 5-10k mark ups that cause them to sit on lots so long here.

 

Just picked up a 2019 TRD Pro in the NW (Portland) for less than MSRP last month. I didn't order it per se but I was looking at new Tacoma Pros (and Sports because I was dead set on manual transmission for about a year. I was totally lurking at the local Toyota inventory. When I saw a pretty basic no dealer add ons other than rubber floor mats, manual TRD Pro, I called all the local dealers and found which one it was at. I pounced and put some money down that day. I just say be ready to purchase if you find your exact model! I haggled them down $1,500 under MSRP and got a bed mat for free too. I also waited towards the end of the month AND picked it up 1 hour before closing. They didn't even sell me warranties! Get them at the worst time possible when everyone wants to just go home!

 

Same here, though not a pro, scored a great deal this month, car sales are in the tank right now, good time to buy.

 

Hey guys, great inputs I'm reading and lol. Anyways, clear some things up I guess. I dont think most people are dumb enough to pay any mark up especially if they are on the forums and have a basic understanding of what their buying.

Why I dont want a 18 or 19 pro?(unless is a 17 low mileage cement gray) Simple, the 2020 have enough upgrades for me to wait and I m not dying for a vehicle as I have other cars to drive. Headlight change is amazing, apple and android auto should be standard since 2015. Cameras front and 360 view? Great addition! Will I use it alot? Probably not but it's nice to have. All these upgrades are totally worth the minor wait, the biggest impacting change for "me" would be the headlights.

Clearly from reading you can understand the aesthetic of the vehicle is a big part for me. Will I use the truck for what its needed for? Of course, but will I use it alot? Most likely not. I understand most will flame me and say this guy doesnt even use a truck for what it's made for... but let's be honest most of us dont doesnt matter what trim so what does it matter? And if u did u wouldn't buy a midsize truck.

The limiting factor of the TRD pros are a very enticing perk for me and I feel for others as well even tho some may denie or could careless and that is fine. It doesnt mean anyone is better than anyone cuz of the trim they got let's be real a 55k vehicle in 2019 is pretty achievable is just most ppl dont want to pay for it but some are. I have come to this forum to seek subject matter expertise as most of you know a hell lot more about tacomas then me and so far I have gotten alot of great info. Let's put some of yall daggers away and hook a brother up with a pro so we can all appreciate how good or bad of a mistake it may be. Cheers!

I got mine for less than MSRP. I don't think I could order one and expect to get it for MSRP locally. They'd want to let it sit out there on the lot for a while to see if they can get that extra $10k.

Funny thing about that market adjustment price is that it lost them money on my truck. The first time I saw it I would have gladly paid MSRP but they weren't budging. I got a call two months later and we made a deal for about $3K less.

 

If you're truly willing to walk away, you'll end up with a life of nothing but deals. That's the only game you need to play and know - works for most everything in life.

 

Maybe in California money. That 55k is about a third of a nice house in my neck of the woods. Heres what it would be financed over 6 years at the natl average interest rate according to google.
To a lot of people, thats not far from picking up an extra house payment.

 

Don't buy a pro if you need to finance it. Actually don't even buy a new truck. Buy a used one and save your money until you can pay cash for what you want. Then you can justify having the pro because you save $10k in interest.

Thats my philosophy. But the OP saying that most people can afford a $55k vehicle is just ignorant. Im sure a lot can, but it would put them in real bad debt.

 

To be fair I think he said mid 40's. With a substantial downpayment that should be well within reach for many. Probably not most but many.

But yeah....if he's assuming that 2020 pro is gonna be mid 40's he will be surprised.

 

I quoted him saying 55k in my post above. Mid 40's is more than Ill ever pay, but seems to be more of an average for most new cars with higher trim levels. I wanna say my dealer had a Cav Blue '18 Pro DCSB with a 6 Spd MT this time last year for around $48k if memory serves me well. It sat for over a month, I assume because of the manual trans.

 

Right. But you don't usually finance the full amount. I didn't write that post well enough to convey that point. Its easy to throw hypothetical money around.

 

yea....i remember the Miata convertible when it first came out......$12k sticker.......dealer marked up to $20k......this was when the convertible was coming back to market......wow......and people were buying them.......the more demand, the more mark-up

 

I get what youre saying, and putting money down is something Id do if I was to finance a new vehicle. But its important to remember that most people these days dont know what a savings account is. 84 month, and even as high as 10 year loans are becoming common since people cant put money down. I assume its a great time to be a repo man...

 

lets not compare vehicle cost to home... apples to oranges brother... not gonna make sense as people's priorities are different.

 

It actually makes some sense. If you live in an area where the median home value is $200,000...a $55,000 truck seems like a lot more money than if you lived some place where the median home is $500,000.
