I have a contractor coming to redo my bathroom while we're gone and Ron is terrified of everyone but me and the wife.
My mom is going to come check on him daily. Pretty sure he will just hide whenever someone is I the house.
He would have a breakdown at a kennel.
We've left for 2 weeks before and he was ok. My mom said by the second week she could almost pet him!

Even though we’ve had the same cat sitter forever, our one cat will hide for the first three days and not eat and then he will slowly come around. I could never take mine to a kennel....like yours, they’d have a breakdown.
Not to mention I have too many. :anonymous:

Thanks Chance! I haven't sent an update in a day or two, but he's doing very well. Everything is healing up well, his ins and outs are good, and he's acting normal other than sleeping a little more than usual. We let the other cats upstairs for some supervised visit time last evening which went well, and today my wife let Henry roam the whole house while she was home today. She said he was hitting all of his favorite sunny places and napping with his brother.

We started him back on his Plavix last night after stopping it a week ago due to bleeding concerns during surgery. Things are returning to "normal". I'm still sleeping with him in the guest room to ensure no night shenanigans occur, but I will probably stop in another day or two. His stitches come out next week.

The only dark cloud currently hanging around is the fact that we don't have lab results back regarding the removed tumors. The lab checks the margins to determine if they got it all or left some behind. It was a tight spot in his ear, so I'm worried that the vet was not able to remove enough tissue - the standard is 1 cm on all sides of the tumor, but his little ear is only about 3-4 cm wide. We're hoping for good news...

Smokey self-regulated very well when he was our only cat, but he eats competitively now that we have two. Probably comes from living as a stray and having to compete for food. But at our vet visit last month he weighed 22lbs and the vet says he needs to lose at least 2 (preferably 4) to be at his optimal weight again. So now he's on a pretty strict twice-a-day feeding regimen and can't figure out why we are suddenly trying to starve him. Every time we stand up he makes a dash for his food bowl and waits impatiently for us to follow him in

Dude an 18 pound cat is huge! Can he really be that big or does his doctor tell you the same thing as my wife’s doctor tells her about losing weight? I can’t stand up to her at all, so I hope you’re strong brother!

For real, that's a big cat...I have a big cat and he's 'only' 14lbs lol.

Its interesting though because in the pic he looks like a healthy weight, he must just be a straight up big guy

He's just a big cat. The vet thinks that even though he's got Tabby patterning that he's got a good bit of Maine Coon in the mix, because of his size. The vet said that his ideal weight would probably be around 18lbs but that he'd be happy if we got him down around 20. Said that he's not dangerously overweight, but could stand to lose some pudge.

    Ha!
He's a solid cat, for sure, but there's a fair amount of 'wub' there, too.

Of course, he's got so much hair that if we shaved him there'd probably be 2 pounds right there. I've been brushing him every morning for the last week because he's losing his winter coat, and so far he's filling the slicker brush twice each time. The local bird population is going to have very well-padded nests full of Smokey hair this year

Must be a large cat - he doesn't look too fat. My old cat was a Maine coon mix; 16-18 lbs healthy weight. My 2 newer cats are 10 and 12 lbs and seem tiny although that's pretty much average for a cat.

I'll have to see if I can get a picture of him next to something or on something for a sense of scale. He might take it personal if I unreel a tape measure next to him while he's stretched out asleep
