Anyone going to be riding at big bear this year? Looks like the season is getting ready to start!

 

Damn buddy. I'm so sorry, I really hope you heal well and quickly. Take it easy, think long-term. Before you know it, this'll be a distant memory.
I've had a neck injury before, it's no joke. You need to heal right to keep it from being an everyday problem. Good luck!

 

If on the fence, always size up. Stability, room confidence. The Evil bikes ride way nimble, so moving the thing around won't be an issue.

 

I agree... at 5'10" I'm on the bleeding edge between a lot of Medium and Large frames. I rode Med. for years and, while not slow; I always felt a bit cramped in the cockpit when steering and moving. I tend to move around a lot on the bike and shift my body weight so I look for as much room as possible and finally switched to large frames. I'll never own another medium framed MTB.

 

I'm in the same boat at 5'10". For hardtails with "old-school" geometry and only 100-110mm of travel, though, I stick with medium frames and can whip them around on the trails like a bmx bike. However, when it comes to more modern full-squish options with aggressive geo and longer travel, I usually require large frames to feel comfortable.

For that reason, I personally think that it depends entirely on the type of bike I'm riding. Every single type/genre/brand requires a different size frame.

 

Perhaps... my newest MTB (FS) was a 2014 Spearfish but I have demoed quite a few since then with the new slacker geometry and I still prefer a large frame. Maybe because my primary discipline is XC? If I were enduro or DH, I might have to look at smaller frames but, as you know, those beastly frames are useless around these parts.

Looks like a nice little kicker as long as you stay left.

 

It was almost all jagged and roots and uphill. Spent half the ride carrying my bike up. Was constantly paranoid a mountain lion was gonna jump out and try and mail me. Lol

Lake Tahoe and El Dorado NF this weekend

 

Sundance Bike Park opens Friday! Not a great park, but better than nothing. Then 1 month til Deer Valley and Trestle!

Edit: And Angel Fire opens next weekend. Still gotta make a trip down there.

Like 45 mins. It's not great, but its open, and a ticket is like 24 bucks for a full day.

DV is an hour, and like 50 a day. Much more and better trails, but still pretty tame compared to Trestle or AF.

Anyone ever use a bed bar for a RTT as a method of locking your bike in the bed? I was thinking of putting a bed rail through the triangle in the frame and mounting the bed rail to the bed with non tamper screws... is this a dumb drunken idea or would this not be half bad?

 

Hell yea man gonna be a good drive, but DH is the only thing I will drive a good bit for. We got to get up man!

 

Not bad idea but seems a pain to on and off. I was going to take a similar approach by unbolting the d ring at the front side to attach one end if a chain. The other end can be loop over to the ring on the other side and locked or looped and locked back onto itself. Installing tamper proof bolts is a nice idea tho. For chain protection I have always kust used old innertubes over the chain.
