Contrary to what we want to think, quality itself is never 100% objective. Half of it is perception: what is an irritation to one person can be a minor annoyance to another. An uncomfortable seat to one can be the most comfortable seats to another; excessive wind noise to one can a quiet and refined cabin to another. Etc.

Early 2000s is when they really started to get their motors towards the top of the pecking order. Then they started really working on the getting the chromo frame where it needs to be, along with adding quality parts (hydro clutch, estart, Brembo brakes etc). But the bikes took a huge leap in 2016 with that generation change, only being held back by a mediocre fork. 2017 they fixed that and here we are lol.

Definitely not entirely the Dealers fault, it would have been good on their part to tell you about the cutting and may have been on the work order paperwork you have to sign twice that explains what they are going to do to your truck. If its not on there, thats poor communication on the dealers part. If it is on there and you signed anyway, then sorry brother.

 

My wife bought a 2007 Civic Si brand new off the dealer lot. She drove it like a old lady, no joke she babied it everywhere (still not sure why she bought an Si). Did all the regular maintenance and was dealer serviced.
At about 60,000 miles I noticed it was consuming a ton of oil. Like a quart every 1,000 miles. Take it into Honda and they claimed it was "normal" buuuut if we wanted them to look at the engine they would, at the price of 3,500. We said no thanks.
At that point between the two of us we had owned around 8 hondas/acuras, since then it's been all Toyota. Wife has a 2015 Camry and it's been great.

Yeah, somewhere in the past 10ish years someone decided to run shit oil rings, probably to cut costs? Its mostly on the higher performing i4's so maybe it was to reduce internal friction at higher RPMs. Either way they claim that the oil burning is because the piston rings rotate and the fix was a new set of rings.

Before I became aware of this, I helped my brother pick out a used 2013 Honda Accord with 70k miles and a long car fax report of dealer maintenance. Great car but after he bought it, it started making a weird metal rasping sound. Checked the oil dip stick and it was empty.

There was a recal but it had expired for his car and Honda wouldn't take it in. Now he's basically stuck with it.

 

They're just here for the shit show.

A friend of my brother's has a Ford that was refused transmission warranty because Discount tires was out of the correct size and bumped him up 1 aspect ratio. Luckily, Discount foot the bill for a rebuild.
