    Whats the cheap/reliable locker to add to the rear of our trucks? I have an elocker in mine but my buddy is in need of a locker. Funds are low tho. It is his DD.

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    Aussie locker or a Spartan locker are pretty cheap and DIY install

    ...I started the engine. I was already in 4Lo, and I also engaged the front and rear lockers, hoping that the passenger tires which were on slightly firmer ground would be enough to pull the truck out.

    Nope. More wheel spin. And more sinking. The front wheel was now up just above the center cap and the rear axle was just touching the water.

    We were well past "sh*t" at this point on the cuss-o-meter, and the camera was long forgotten. Sorry. :sorry:

    Its an old, outdated viscosity. Same oil, rating system changed.

    Not sure how an auto locker affects driving in 2wd but if he puts it in the front he won't notice it in 2wd at all.

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    It's comical if not extremely dangerous in the rear on snow and makes some horrendous noises on dry pavement. But hey it's cheap so you got that going for ya. If you get the no-slip, it's a bit less aggressive on pavement but still has scary characteristics on snow and ice

    I figured as much, since you need torque to get moving it'll lock in until letting off the gas. I think @Deathbysnusnu has Detroit in his rear.

    he would definitely be driving in snow during winter camping trips. maybe its not a good option for him.

    Does he have a manual trans? They are even more squirrelly with the manual, I had one in the rear of my 99 Prerunner and it was manageable with the auto trans, but I also live in the southwest and don't have to contend with much rain or snow.

    I prefer the manual in snow/ice. At least then I control shifts and not have it randomly shift on me when I don't need it to.

    Yes he does have a manual. He plans to keep it relatively stock. Maybe a trutrac is the better option.

    I meant with the auto locker in the rear, I'll take a manual any day all day but I wouldn't put an auto locker in one. Not one that I drive on the street anyway

    Trutrac LSDs are great for street traction but if he's looking for better offroad performance, he should save up for a selectable locker imo

    I agree. he wont be doing hard wheeling though. I dont know if i could convince him to pay over double the price for a selectable locker.
