Shame they're such garbage because they are cool looking. Ditto for later years and current models. Wonder why they never could get it right?

I ended up quitting my job at the Porsche/Ferrari dealer over these rolling piles of crap. They look great sitting but they leave oil spots whereever they stop... closed knuckle front ends/wiper seals exposed to the road elements, an aluminum block V8 the Buick dumped in the 60's... 1920's technology for $65k. darn you, you reminded me of nighmares work on these things. :)

I've done a mod or two
As with every mechanical thing the British dream up these are only the idea of ruggedness, they aren't actually rugged and they barely hold together just doing grocery getter duty. I wouldn't even consider it with a toyota drivetrain, it's still a mess of poor construction

With armor and camping gear etc my truck hits 4200 pounds and it can no longer get out of it's own way.
I mean...it can barely get out of it's own way with out armor and stuff...with all the add ons it really can't get out it's own way.

    Terrible vehicle in every way,

    Axles are toothpicks
    Engine is a boat anchor
    diffs are fragile
    cooling system is poor
Interior quality is made at someone’s basement
I can’t imagine someone paid 35 grand in 1991 for this European junk,

I bought it because I like the looks, now with Toyota engine and drive train it will be a nice vehicle.

Original 3.9 v8 is about as powerful as Russian chain saw
At this point reliability is more important than making it powerhouse,

LS motor is also an option for those, but I like V6 idea

The original diesel motor that came on those rovers in Europe is only 120 hp
