I just mounted probably the same antenna on a rear mount with a spring. Ran 10-gauge wire from the mount to some more suitable ground. Probably only have about 12" above the roof, and then a RTT blocking even more. Checked SWR, probably not in the most ideal conditions, but it was ~1.2 on Ch. 1 and ~2.3 on Ch. 40. I'm probably going to shorten the antenna a bit and recheck my ground. It also may be this Firering cable that I have making a tight bend and not the stud mount (which I should have used).

I have one as well. I had problems with my antenna when I first set it up and had to do some reading and figured it out.

I was going to say I'd mail you mine but it looks like you got it covered. If not, let me know.
I should be relocating my 3' Firestick to the back driver's side corner next week. Might do it today if I have time. I'm hoping the numbers turn out good. Just have to figure out how to route the cable.

Thanks guys, after talking with by ass this morning he said to order one and they'd pay for it. He'd never heard of such a thing. His words were a"s dubbya wutta?" I explained to him that cb's aren't exactly plug and play and needed to be tuned to work right. I was surprised by that since all out crummys and trucks have cb's. He said to go through and check all our setups. some rigs can't hear a transmission at over 100yrds distance.

Now if I can get him to pay for the $130 CB I want...... :spy:

Hmmm just noticed that nifty product section at the bottom of the thread shows the one I want for $110 on Amazon.

Oh and I meant "my boss" not my ass. Although he is an ass and he probably wouldn't disagree with that so I'll leave it.

I like that CMX760. Be easy to hide it in the center console or under the dash and only have the hand unit. But its also twice the price of my PRO520XL. The reviews on it leave a lot to be desired though

The concealable factor was a big  for me. But that's about the only plus about it IMO over the basic uniden and cobra units.

Imagine the price tag if it was advertised as an "overland" CB. It's already close to that price level.:bananadead:

GovPlanet can be a bad influence sometimes......:anonymous::spending:

    pa120pallets.jpg

Crazy enough, between myself and friends, we could actually use a few more than the 70 I won at auction (all spoken for).....

    :annoyed::crazy:

Too bad they are empty and don't actually contain what they were originally designed for......:(

I'll think about it. I might be needing a rear end tho. Time to switch to 4.30 I guess.

It started out looking to see if any LMTVs were available for auction locally (nope). Then M1101/02 trailers (nope). MKT trailer? OOooo, that's neat! No burners? Fuck that (it sold for $1,500.) . Talk about group camp cooking though!

    mkt99.jpg

Then I saw a pallet of ammo cans. Hmmmm, that's interesting! $5 starting bid?? What the hell. A couple of hundred dollars later, I have two pallets of ammo cans waiting for me to pick them up tomorrow.

You think? Are you drunk shopping? Remember on click the purchase button once. It counts each button click as a purchase.

No, a buddy bought them and is gonna go a different route now. Assuming I can fund them sometime this month, they're mine.
