Hey Tacoma world. I have run into an issue with my Dakars. First of all this is my setup:
    Front-OME 888 coils with bilstein 5100s
Rear-RCD extended travel bilstein 5100s, OME HD Dakars, Wheelers super bumps bumpstops, stock shackle hangers and shackles.
For what it’s worth 255/85r16 tires

So as the title says I have contact from the leaf on the shackle on both passenger and driver side on both sides of the shackle. Driver outside being the worst.

My first thoughts, I have bent the shackle hanger. Ordered The HD BAMF shackle hangers and shackle (not yet recieved). After thinking about it that can’t be it becuase of the contact on both sides of the shackle. Granted one side is much worse on the driver side.

Leafs are straight and aligned with one another as well.

I have about 15k miles on the setup

    Any thoughts?

Are the leafs installed in the correct orientation? i.e. the little arrow pointing forward.

that is interesting to say the least, I've actually heard the opposite is usually the case. Dakars not being compatible with bamf HD shackles due to the springs making contact and it is usually recommended to go with the oem shackle kit.

    subbed for outcome.

In the last pic; the leaf with the hole is moving side-to-side, hitting both sides of the shackle?

Yeah. I have no experience but it looks like the over load is loose and pivoting. I'd imagine the shackles get further away when the spring compresses no?

    Yes. Little arrow forward!
Tonight I will put the truck up on stands and check u bolts etc. I have already checked the hardware at the shackle and hanger.

Dakars and BAMF hangers with BAMF hangers are not compatible and require some trimming of the Dakars. As you mentioned. I plan to trim the Dakars or am hoping that some one comes up with something better.

Thank you all for your responses.

Yep, this is normal for Dakars and you may hear a clunk from time to time as that military style wrap slaps the shackle during a bump while turning.

I hated that sound which is why I did this

Seriously!!! Is it just me or do I do I feel ARB has taken a step backwards on quality. Are those leafs the CS047s? Im curious if they are because I have the newer version. They could have fixed this issue when they did the update!

OME did update the design, but this particular spot on the springs isn't much better on new EL095/96.

Please call up ARB/OME and tell them the issue, they need to hear it so they can fix the problem. Get them to fix the problem they created.

IMO, here's what happened: OME was used to making leaves for the Hilux with shackle design opposite of the Tacoma. On Hilux it is fine to stack leaves under the spring eye, nothing to hit on Hilux.
Then someone decided it would be fine to use that Hilux friendly design on the 2nd gen Tacoma. Isn't the aftermarket great?

Archive Hammer hangers are improved by moving shackle pivot rearward which helps with Dakars contact issue because shackle rotates away from leaves a bit. Because Dakars are so short, they get the most lift with Hh, but max out around 3/8" for HD Dakars since revision in September 2018.

On BAMF side, the shackle he offers don't work with a standard spring eye, like Dakars and Alcan use. They only work for an English wrapped eye like Deaver uses. I watched it unfold, BAMF painted himself in a corner with the hanger design, his original shackles were rubbing the hangers with longer springs, so the shackles could only work the final way he now offers (for longer springs). But they do cost less.

I emailed ARB but have yet to hear from them. I will be calling. Mind blowing ARB has allowed this. Upsetting because now I am looking at repairs and contemplating different leaf springs.

Archive, excuse my ignorance but the stock shackle is 3.4”. You sell a 4.5” that would lower ride height with a spring over axle and Dakars, also the 4.5” might not flex fully as a spring over. You sell a 3.6” this would yield the same ride height?

All hardware touching rear suspension is torqued appropriately.

The 4.5 would lower the truck with Dakars, and only with Dakars they would not hurt flex.

I'd recommend staying with stock length or 3.6" shackles for spring over

Notice my Dakars did the exact same thing when I installed them back in January. Had one of the guys at RPM Garage look at it when I was getting an alignment, and he showed me a shackle that was beat to shit because of the same leaf packs, said the guy who had them wheeled a lot.
