that is right, we don't need HP, we need more torque or moved the available torque to a lower rpm what is the only way to feel like V8 or to compensate bigger tires. That is exactly what I feel with 91base, and if we get the same gain at torque with 87octane, that would be wonderful.

After running 1.05.1 93 performance for 200+ miles in all driving conditions besides off road, I’m still a base tune guy. They daily drivability of the base tunes sealed the deal for me. I love how the performance tunes truly make the truck come alive, but they personally are just not for me. I’m still all stock tires, wheels and suspension.

Now my next test will be 1.05.1 91 base with 93oct or 93 base with 93oct. I’ve always been a big fan of 91 tunes on 93oct even with my pro-tuned wrx sti before my Tacoma.

aren't we suppose to match the fuel to the tune you select?

You can always use higher octane fuel with any lower octane tune.

I was told back with my WRX Sti (which the motor was a ticking time bomb) that the higher octane on lower octane tune was better for knock protection. Not sure if that applies to the Tacoma or not.

Hey everyone, just to remind you guys 1.05.1 is for trucks that actually have the shutter and is reproducible. getting some reports of people who updated who didn't have issue and now do..

Could be a good idea to put this type of notices on the tuning software itself when selecting different tunes.

Info can get lost easily when we have so many posts all over the place and then the average attention spam of the average user lol

For me it's not much about mpg or hp! It's a drivability issue. If I get improved mpg or hp that great. I believe Mat has fulfilled that need very well.

Mat stated recently that yes, you should use the octane that matches the tune.

    Should I update to 1.05.1 ?

This update is only necessary if your truck experiencing characteristic "stumbling" or stuttering, "Bumpy road feeling" during low RPM (1200-2000 RPM) at low throttle and low to moderate speed (15mph - 50 mph)

You all are assuming people actually read the first post. You also assume people can comprehend what they are reading. Both are fairly big assumptions.

ahhh the tune thread, where a 25vs50hp troll can last for pages, everyone has to point everyone to page 1 even if someone already has, and everyone assumes you jump on TW as part of buying the tune.
