So I have a few questions about getting new wheels for my 06. Any advise would be appreciated.

    1. I have 17" TRD Sport wheels, do I want to buy 17x8 or 17x9? Does it matter?

    2. I like the look of black wheels with a silver ring around it. Anyone have pictures or advice? I am like Helo Max 6 Black and also XD addicts. I was also thinking of just painting my wheels black.

    3. Should I be looking for hub centric or lug centric?

    4. Backspacing? what should I be looking for? how much BS?

All this would be on a stock suspension truck with 265/65/17 Michelin MS2 tires.

    Thanks.

    1. as long as you keep the 265's, the 17x8 would be fine. you would need the 17x9 if you were getting a larger tire. so get the smaller of the two, because the bigger they are, the more they cost. you might even get a 16x8, it will show more tire and cost even less.
    2. don't have any pictures, but i do like the helo black maxx 6 wheels. i came close to buying some but they were a little too shiny and didn't suit my truck. painting them would be the cheapest, but to me it just looks cheap. just my opinion.
    3. not sure
    4. your wheels have a 5.5" backspacing and are 17x7.5. the lower the backspacing is, the farther the tires and wheel will stick out on the sides. so say, 4.5" backspacing, they will stick out 1" more. also, wheel size will effect how far they will stick out. if you go with the 17x8's with a 4.5" BS, the extra .5" width of the wheel, along with 1" difference in BS will make them stick 1.5" farther out. it's up to you about this.

    hope i helped

no problem, i've learned a lot on here and don't mind sharing it. hopefully somebody will come along here soon and let you know about the hub or lug centric. if you go to a tire and wheel place when you decide to purchase wheels, i'm sure they will be able to tell you.

You can check out my build page in my sig line. The other thing to consider is the wheel off set depending on tire size. I don't know my exact off set, but I could look up my wheel part numbers tomorrow if your interest.
