Talk me out of getting a Ranger!

Im 6' tall and have had zero issues. Only thing I wish for was more adjustment in the steering column.

I am 6’ tall as well, and 185 lbs: this is by far the most uncomfortable seat I’ve found in 30+ vehicles I’ve owned.

After 45+ minutes, even my tiny Fiat 124 Spider is more comfortable than this Tacoma. Thankfully, I don’t do long drives often.

 

Interesting how this affects people differently.

I'm 6'1", 170 lbs and have no problems with the seat. When I first read about the spacer mod, I thought they went under the front mounting points to give the seat bottom more rake. I've always felt a very slight feeling of "falling forward" in the seat, and if available, would tilt the front edge of the seat bottom forward.

I guess that comes from driving smaller cars all my life and having to tilt the seat back in order to have enough headroom.

Personally I didnt like the bed rail height on the Ranger.

 

Before I put the 1" spacers under the back of my seat, my ass felt like it was being sucked in the very back of the seat.

 

Have the same feeling, the seat is like a sliding board, would have guessed spacers under the front too.

 

Worked for me. I went 3/4 " and it helps the back a lot on trips. The low seat position is a thing Toyota refuses to address. I could only do the backs though, as the front holes wont line up when the back is lifted.

 

Why shouldn't you buy one? They're ugly.

 

I don't care for that either. It's the same on the Colorado/Canyon.

 

Yup. We all have different torso-to-legs-to-arms lengths; even two people of the same height.

I also thought tilting the front of the seat would help. But after watching several videos of owners modifying their Tacomas, the issue appears to be that the cushion where we place our butts is too low to the floor.

Part of the problem seems to be that the Tacoma cabin doesn’t have a lot of headroom to start with, so Toyota may have deemed lowering the seat as an acceptable “solution”.

Still, I find it baffling that any of this would be rocket science for Toyota.

 

Except for my 2000 Silverado that wasnt my daily driver, my Tacoma is the only car ive owned that wasnt a low slung sports car 3 inches off the ground. So that may be why im more comfortable in it. This thing is a cadillac (comfort wise) compared to my 03 WRX I sold before it.

 

Strikes me in the pictures that there is more ground clearance and less overall height in the Taco. Cursory check on the interweb confirms it. Taco has 1 inch more ground clearance and less overall height. Practically daring you to lift it, take it off road, and still park it in your garage.

Ford would like you to keep to the malls.

I'm a tall dude, I thought that the rails on the tacoma were a little too high. That Ranger looks obscene. At that point just put a roof panel on and call it an expedition already...
