    Sold on May 21...

    1999 Tacoma extend cab, SR5, Off Road, V6, 5 spd, 4 x 4, Leer cap, roof racks. 159,300 miles, $1000.

    Located in Pickerington, Ohio.

For Sale, due to rusted frame. Must take it all, I will not sell parts.

Title is clear and will be transferred to you before you take the truck.

The only reason I am selling it is for parts, or for someone to replace the frame. I planned to do it myself, but I have more pressing work that needs to be completed, and that I get paid for. If you have time and skills, this is perfect for you.

For safety reasons, I will not let the truck leave here with the wheels on the ground. If you want it, you have to bring a trailer or roll back.

I have a field you can drive it in, but only to test functionality of transmission, clutch, etc.

While the price is negotiable, I will not give it away. If it comes to that, I will donate it to goodwill.

The body is in good shape. (Photo bombing dog is not for sale)

Minor rust spot on right rear from bed cap.

new chrome accents on front bumper

4 Good, B.F.Goodrich All Terrain 31 x 10.50R 15 LT. Spare is original BFG, has never been on the ground.
Stock Alloy Wheels with corrosion on finished surfaces.

Ride Rite air bags. (These do have many miles on them as I moved then from my 1996 to this truck.)

Bilstein Shocks (same as come stock, but replaced in 2015)

Engine runs good, No Check Engine Light issues.

5 spd Transmission, Transfer case, and rear axle all good.

Front axle, struts and gears are good.

    Brakes are good.

3rd member, with e-locker, was replaced with unit from East Coast Gears due to bad pinion bearing in original about 1500 miles ago.

E-Locker actuator not working right now. I have all the parts in a box. Magnets just need to be re-glued into motor case.

I have the front skid plate, here, but it is not installed at this time.

The truck ran and drove great until I heard the frame creaking as I went over bumps.

    Thank you for your consideration,

    John

On my '96, I caught the frame rust in time for the factory recall. So they bought it back from me. It was just like my '99 except NOT off-road, so no locker, etc.

I thought I was keeping good track of the frame on my '99. It still seemed good just before the recall expired for it. If I remember correctly, for me it expired in 2014. Then early summer of 2018, about a year ago, I heard it "crunching" whenever the road was uneven.

I planned to replace the frame, but just do not have time.

thanks for the info!, my personal history, I have been told by several Toyota mechanics over the years that my model year was not afflicted with this issue, it does not pertain to my truck.
in 2o11 I had a pain in the neck time trying to get the dealer to inspect the frame (not knowing they would not repair if found bad), a relative had a used '98 single cab that also had a hard time getting the dealer to inspect it, its like they didn't want to or had NO clue about this problem at the time. my relatives '98 did not pass the hammer but mine did, Toyota took theirs and crushed it.

I will ask my nephew if he might be interested in your '99 and fixing it up. I have two quotes for frame swap here locally (one is from independent Toyota mechanic and the other is a good Bodyshop), it depends if there is a good condition salvaged frame out there somewhere or have to buy new one for $4k to $5k I think is what I looked up recently. then get it powdercoated inside and out
