Re-read what I replied to. He said he would spend more on the car and insurance than what he spends on gas currently. I was just saying that on a $10k car he'd be breaking even for what he currently spends on gas.

Peoples idea of a "commuter" car is different. A brand new compact may be one man's idea, and your $1500 car is another's.

Im looking at Toyota Avalon limited for my daily. Im under $10k on the truck so im thinking its time to start saving up for that commuter car! Also hopefully all my wrecks will be off my record and i can afford insurance for 2 vehicles....

 

So 3rd weekend or what?

 

I set a meetup for saturday may 18th at grapevine lake. Im working weekends so i will not be there...

 

This sat, the day thats 80% chance of rain, outside, with no other food/drink planning?

Haven’t been to Shannon in a while, this seems like a good time.

Outside when the weather is nice, inside/covered when it rains. Beer. BYOfood.

Also they generally don’t gaf what we do.

 

shannon has gotten way too popular for their own good, last few times ive been it was tough getting parking or a spot to stand long enough to finish a beer

 

You replied to my comment, not his. I'm speaking from experience, not some quick excel calculations. My car got 25-30 mpg so more than double the truck but it also added 500 every 6 months to my insurance bill. Between the initial cost, insurance, and gas I spent more on the car than I saved by parking the truck.

I stand by my statement that paying $10,000 to save $67.50 a week is pants on head retarded. That's almost 3 years if you have no other expenses on that vehicle but you didn't figure in gas for the car which is still about $33.00 a week at your calculation so your savings are only $34.50 a week so now you're looking at 5.5 years to break even.

 

You could walk to work like I do and save all of it.
