That show was laughably bad the entire time and just got worse as it went along. Even a topless Sookie couldn’t save that show’s rating, and I think there why half the people watched it.

Interesting...I had thought it was HBO that forced them to end the series this way because of budget or something. I had no idea it was primarily the show runners because they wanted to "move on"...wtf. This could have been the greatest series of all time if they had finished it right. I mean it's still one of my favorite shows, but I don't understand why they'd willingly lop its head off like this and put a stain on their legacy.

 

Star Wars fans are already protesting/upset that Dumb and Dumber will be taking on that project.

I kind of agree on the Breaking Bad point, but, despite a few slow-ish points and them reaching a time or two, whatever it took to deliver the last 3 episodes of that series was absolutely worth it. I haven't watched a ton of shows, but Breaking Bad is easily my GOAT. Game of Thrones looked like it had a shot to take over after 3 seasons, but short of Daenerys leaping out of the screen and giving a tuggie, I don't think the downward trend of the last couple of seasons will let that happen.

This makes sense to me - at least the part about GRRM getting in a little over his head on the story.

I haven't read the books, so I don't know exactly what parts of the show do and don't exist in his books. I've heard the books end somewhere around season 5 or so.

It was a little before that where I started to feel like the show was slipping a bit (to be fair, that meant going from great to good/very good). My biggest gripe was that there were so many story-lines that were so complex and nuanced, that it started to get hard to follow. More accurately, it was hard to care that deeply about that many things at once (the Bran story is where I chose to abandon all smurf giving). It didn't ever feel, to me, like the show struggled to be able to carry any individual story-line, I just grew tired of having attention diverted from the ones that I really found interesting.

Again, the show never stopped being at least "good".

Disney’s happy until they realize all trilogies get told in two movies, story arcs are chopped, and instead of hyperspeeding through the Kestle Run, the Star Wars universe suddenly invents teleportation...
