I'm torn, been a week of back and forth on this. I sold the dirt bikes as I get ready for moving back to IL and starting my nursing program so my bed is gonna be pretty empty for the next few years which got me to thinking about buying a bed cover. Thinking might be nice for the winters in IL, I do prefer the look of an open bed, but dont mind the newer bed covers looks either. Thoughts before I fork over $800?

Don’t fork over $800. Check CL or TW for some bed cover deals. I’ve had a bakflip G2 on my last two trucks and love it.

Edit: the bakflip sits flush with the bed rail.

Yep, had a OEM on my 17, didnt care for its look and sold it. Been scrounging not finding much, found a G2 for $450, has some dings and don't care for the shiny over the matte.

Go with a tonneau but check with Real Truck in the vendor forums for the best prices and what the best option is for your needs, all have their strengths and weaknesses. For me the extang encore was my best choice.

Found a rugged liner II foldable hard top for 350.00 used was on another old guys tacoma for about a year, then he traded the truck in on a short bed taco. It does what I need.

I just purchased and installed a BAKFlip MX4 about a week ago ... I’m pretty happy with it so far!

I gave my OEM one to an Employee and really hate the fact that I'm naked now lol

For some reason the cover makes sense, especially if you sold the bikes.

Right, keep the bed protected, gives me more usable space, etc. and when the bikes make their return I can always remove it or sell it.

I have the factory tri-fold tonneau cover and I really like it. It looks great and I like how I can secure shit in the bed.

Undercover Ultra Flex is what I have on mine and had it on a Chevy previous and no issues and about the best warranty you can get.

Same cover for me. I almost ordered one from Real Truck, then my local Trucker's Toy Store price matched them. Saved me a bunch of money. It never hurts to ask.
Now, back to those naked backflip pictures... :anonymous:

Bak Revolver X2 is my choice. I like not having my rear window obstructed when I need to load the sled in the bed.

I was toying with a revolver but saw the freeze up videos and decided I wasn't going to chance it. I see you're in NH how has it been for you?

Yes, it's a concern to be sure, and I've seen those videos. I've found that if I make sure to completely clear the snow off the cover before I operate it, I have no issues. Every once in a while I need to sort of manually actuate the locking track/catch before I close the cover. It caused me some grief before I did that, but now that I've gotten past the learning curve I really like it. I use it all the time in the winter, I'm an avid ice fisherman and snowmobile rider and sometimes the sled goes in the bed of the truck. The only time it's a real issue is when you have had the cover rolled up for a few days in subzero weather and get some icing/sleet or something like that. The cover gets stiff and doesn't want to close easy because it won't lay flat. When that happens, the tracks/catch won't lock and you really can't latch the cover. As soon as the sun comes out though it sits right down. I like it quite a bit. Personally, all toneau covers I've owned have caused me grief in the winter.

Bakflip in my opinion, I like the look and ease of use. Just picked up an MX4 for $450 off FB MarketPlace. Look around you will find one!
