Didn’t know it was in the rare category. When you’re talking rare how rare (Noob Q&A) I’ve been debating on what to do with it . Definitely it will stay the way it is for now maybe clean it up And turn and burn it . It needs some love for sure . So much fun to drive through!

The quad lines that wrap around the engine to the unit just kind of suck to remove. Then installing the new single line is fun haha

Like they only did that for 2 years I think if that until the Srunner came back.

Think SX rare. Not quite as cool due to no 4wd, but right there with it.

Id leave the blower on there and enjoy the hell out of it.

5-Lug v6 is very rare, discontinued in around 2000-ish. I have one myself, still going strong at 450,000 miles.

Paid a brisk $600 for it and registered it 3,000 miles away in Vermont.

Why do you think I bought it? I wanted to restore it, and I did have plans to. I have two bins full of parts for it.

The lack of title issue, and $3,000 of backfees in California are what made me change my mind. Yeah, I can keep it in Vermont but since they don't issue titles I'd be hard pressed to sell it and it would have little resale value with the mileage it has.

Miguel has an S-Runner which was introduced in 2001. The S-Runner was a truck catered towards the "mini truck" crowd, AKA people who like to build 2WD pickups for speed and comfort. What makes it different from a standard 5-Lug is that it didn't have the 2RZ-FE 2.4l, it has the v6. It came with the Limited interior (leather steering wheel, power lumbar seat), along with a rear swaybar and extra crossmember under the bed for added rigidity. Color keyed bumpers, door handles, and fender flares were standard.

I'd say S-Runner are even more rare than the 5-Lug v6. I never see S-Runners. I used to stalk Copart a lot and there are a few of the 5-Lug v6, but virtually zero S-Runners.

Then Miguel dun goofed it up and removed everything that made it an S-Runner and lifted it for god knows what reason.

So they’re basically the same, 5 lug V6 but one has a fancy badge?

No, the 5-Lug v6 has a few differences from the S-Runner. The 5-Lug v6 is just the base model Tacoma with a v6, that's it. The S-Runner has all the features of a Limited Tacoma (except 4WD) along with features unique to the S-Runner like the rear swaybar and that rear crossmember. No other Tacoma has that swaybar and x-member.

Also Miguels has an 8.4 rear end and normal 5lugs just have that 7.5

He's still spring under axle though, yet he has the 6-Lug sized rear end?

    That's weird.

Yup, it's like they built the S-runner to have power but then forgot they didn't make a powerful engine at that point in time.

So you can use 6-Lug axle shafts and 3rd member, theoretically?

you can at least use the third member, the axle tube may not be as wide being a 5lug has flatter fenders, but if it was the same length you could use six lug axles too but it would be kinda dumb
