I did take multiple sky shots but ultimately only used the one frame. This is a single shot with the foreground lit up by flashing a lume cube once or twice.

My local photography club had a large format meet and greet walk tonight. The idea was to expose large format newbs like me to the cameras, take some shots, and get to know the process and equipment. I got to shoot a 5x7 VDS camera with a 300mm f5.6 Schneider-Kreuznach lens.

I made six exposures on Ilford HP5 in about 2 hours, should have the scans soon I hope. I’m hooked... $$$

    I'd love a Pentax 67 one day!

I've had a raft of 35mm SLR's and rangefinders. I've had a couple medium format film cameras as well. I've never had a chance to operate anything that takes sheet film until last night. I really enjoyed the process; it's so much different than shooting roll film cameras with view finders. Yes it's a slower process, to an extent, but other than requiring a tripod it's not terribly different than how I approach shooting regardless of format. Movements are freakin' cool too.

first thing that opened my eyes up was starting to shoot in raw. You can mess with the settings later after youve shot to see how exposure effects your pictures. Good Luck.

Yes all I shoot is raw. So much easier to actually tweak the photo especially when conditions aren’t optimal

FWIW -- all digital cameras (and phones) shoot in RAW --it's just how you and your camera decide to save them. Most "cheaper" cameras and cell phones -that decision is made for you - mostly saved as JPEGs. Better systems -- you have control over how shots are saved.

True. I just prefer to work with raw over jpg. Just more editing ability.

    I shoot a Nikon D500

I have Nikon D3400, I haven't shot any pics much with my dslr lately. Mostly from my phone. Definitely need to get back into it soon.

That is truly the best idea if you want super results. Only drawback is most people don't want to give the time the work/fun requires.
