Then buy used, and a V-Twin putter... my neighbor, who bought the Ducati Multistrada that scares the crap out of him to the extent that he rarely rides it, should have bought the Indian that I recommended; it would have fit his needs perfectly, and he'd actually ride.

Central Texas' biggest gathering of auto enthusiasts has found a new home at Circuit of The Americas! CARS & COFFEE AUSTIN is taking over Lot A for a monthly pop-up car show for the entire family. All profits will be donated to a different Austin area charitable organization each month.

For anyone new, this gathering is a community effort that we all pitch in to supply various items for our group to make our day more enjoyable and full of bacon. A list of common items is as follows:

**As always, it is not expected for anyone to bring anything. Anything that is brought is greatly appreciated, but you are still allowed to partake in any of the snacks/tacos even if you can’t bring anything**

@jlusmc please make sure you pass this advice on. As I also said, start small and learn to ride and learn if you want to ride. Way too many times the buyer gets caught in the male psyche and "have spare income" mentality and overbuy their abilities. Best case is it doesn't get used, worst case is someone gets hurt. Also try and get him to take the MSF MC course, which is required for a MC license endorsement, before buying. That will also help him understand if he wants to ride and maybe reinforce starting small.

 

Seconded. You don't want a crazy powerful bike, but you also don't need a 15hp 2-stroke mini bike, either.

Take NoPro's suggestion to sit on as many as possible to get that initial feelng of if it's comfortable. Take a bike riding friend with you to help you find a bike that fits.

Before any of the bike hunting, take the MSF Basic rider's course to learn the all-too-important safety maneuvers, low speed handling and to meet the Texas motorcycle education requirement for licensing. As Lurkin said, the course will help let you know if a motorcycle is right for you.

Also you may want look into getting a fuel injected scooter so much easier for maintenance an powerwise as well.

 

Can yall recommend a MSF course school? I told my GF i want this for my Bday coming up

Harley Davidson does a good one, otherwise you have to go to the MSF website to find the nearest school. Yamaha dealers will put them on sometimes, too.
