Well there's the reliability of a Toyota that a Jeep doesn't have... As long as you ignore all the recalls and other problems Toyota has had over the years.

Pretty much. Toyota has had problems, and Jeep has had problems. I'm not worried about my LJ or my Taco, but the gladiator could have easily replaced both just fine.

Its def a cool machine. Price, not so cool. I would maybe put a 50k price tag on that.

Every prerunner is running IFS for good reason. Not to mention jeeps recent tendency to forget how to weld a frame.

That was roughly 720 jeeps that needed to be recalled and they were fixed. Toyota recalled 800,000 trucks for frame rust. You can hate Jeeps if you want, but I hope you don't think Toyota is perfect.

The proportions are even worse in person. I've seen three rolling around northern VA already and they just look terrible.

Though I'm really curious what they'd look like on 37's or something where bigger tires would make it look not so weird. I think that might work.

I was curious so I priced out a fully equipped Tacoma trd and a Rubicon there was over a $20000 price difference. No thank you

Like @Matic said you get a lot in a Rubicon that you don’t even have the option to get in a TRD, or would destroy the warranty in a ‘yota if you did it aftermarket. Hard to compare apples to apples here.

I think it’s just hard for people to admit that from the factory Jeep built the ability to have a more capable midsize truck than Toyota. Looks are subjective, and price comes with the options you pick. I like my Taco, and am keeping it, but I would have gotten the gladiator if it were out at the time.

But a gladiator rubicon is 12k more than a JL rubicon. I thought the gladiator was supposed to compete with Tacoma’s, there’s 7 within 50 miles of me and all of them are >52k. It’s really just a bummer, I kinda like em but not for that.

Yeah they ain’t cheap. There are going to be base model gladiators that are cheaper and more competitive, but I don’t think those are out yet. I thought only the top of line first run were out where you just get to pick color and paid at least $62k for it, but honestly I haven’t paid too much attention after my initial research.

These jeeps are 50k-65k Canadian. With the exchange rate that's 37k-47k USD. Would be more worth it to import one.

    $12k more?

Base gladiator with the same options I got on my 18 JLU Rubicon is around the same price.

They estimated it's around $2k more with tax, title, destination fees.

So instead of being these amazing off-road vehicles (which I'm sure still perform) we'll be seeing these on the pavement with 27" chrome rims.

    Oh, btw.
I didn't pay that, it's a Sept, 2018 build so when I bought it at the end of the year it was 3 months old. $45.471.

Then another $2500 off for my work discount, friends and fam discount, and my trade in.

    So OTD was $42.500.

I mean I'm a Toyota guy, not a fanboi, but I love my toyota. We've been together for 17 yrs.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy a Gladiator or any jeep. Hell, I never thought I would ever buy a jeep. And it's not really an apples to apples comparison. The gladiator is still more of an SUV with a little bit of payload capability.

There is nothing wrong with a Jeep (except maybe reliability? IDK) But that Gladiator is just....no. But thats just me.

I get it man, I really do.
When I look back at when my 1st gen doublecab was new...it was pretty funky and not proportioned very well.

But I get some people just don't care for the looks of them.

BTW your jeep is pretty. I was torn between the tacoma and that. The price vs what I actually needed it for leaned to tacoma. Wish I could have both!
