    I’d be careful with that one. I’ve been skimmed twice and the last time was to the tune of $3500. I use my CC to pay, that way if it’s skimmed it isn’t coming out of my bank account. The only reason I have and use my AMEX card.

    Is that in CAD? That would be $1.78 x 3.7 = $6.58/Gallon

    Assuming that's CAD, converting to USD would translate to $4.89/Gallon. Which is still expensive.

    This happened to me twice last year. I don't have proof that it was because of my debit card at the gas station, but given how often I need to fill up (14mpg, ouch) and that I always go to Arco stations (debit/cash only)...it makes sense that it would be the culprit.

    First time was for $1600 and someone used it to pay off their car title loan in Texas, luckily I happened to check my account less than 12 hours after they did the charge and was able to get Chase to reimburse me. Second time it happened it was several small video game charges in Seattle (about $8 each) and I got 2/3 of it back through Chase, don't know why they didn't give me back the full amount but I was only out maybe 20 bucks.

    Anyway yeah...I like filling up at Arco because it's the cheapest 'top tier' gas around, but I'm more careful with my card now. I watched a video on how those debit card gas station scammers get your PIN number and you can help keep it from happening by scrambling your PIN when you type it in at the pump. AKA type a few numbers, delete a couple, type one or two more, delete one, etc. It throws off their ability to record your PIN if that pump happens to be rigged by one of them.

    Kind of a pain but with gas prices so high here, I don't mind the precaution. Haven't had any issues since anyway.
