Both of mine are silent. Smokey falls asleep, usually, and Toni just hunkers down in the cage, pins her ears back, and goes all roundy-eyed.

My old cat, on the other hand...If he wasn't in your lap, bring ear plugs.

My original Maine Coon, Lexi, loved to travel. Whenever I took her to the airport to pick up my wife, Lexi would sit on the dash the almost the whole way. If she wasn't there, she was in my lap looking out the windows.

    Oh

    My

    Gawd

Crazy stupid thing was that the cat that I thought would be the problem was quiet the whole time. The ‘quiet cat’ sang the whole ghat damn freakin way. But every time I looked at her, she was sitting contently, toes tucked in, looking calm. But belting out a tune at volume 15!

I just got the call from Henry's vet.

The good news: The tumor margins were clean, so she got it all.

The bad news: The second small bump removed from his back was also a mast cell tumor. She got all of that one too, but having two means he probably either has more, or will get more.

There are two main possibilities. Either he has an internal mast cell tumor that is throwing off metastases that end up as skin lesions, or the ones on his skin are spreading on their own. If he had a tumor on his spleen (most commonly) or elsewhere internal, he would need chemotherapy. His heart condition makes that impossible, and even if he could deal with it we probably wouldn't put him through that anyway. In our opinion, causing all of the stress and sickness that results from chemo to an animal that doesn't understand why it's happening is cruel, and especially so if only to buy a little more time. We have therefore decided not to do any additional diagnostic testing. If he has an internal tumor we can't do anything about it anyway. We will just continue to treat his heart failure with meds and shower him with love. If we find any more bumps in easy spots they can be removed under local anesthetic. If any show up in hard to deal with spots, apparently older antihistamines (benadryl) can be useful in slowing the progression and treating the symptoms associated with these tumors.

If he just has skin tumors, the heart failure will likely get him first. If he has an internal tumor, he will go quicker. Not good either way, but better to know so we can plan for his comfort and happiness.

As for today, he's doing well. He has started scratching and licking his stitches, which makes us nervous, but otherwise he's fine. Eating well, affectionate, and in no apparent discomfort. So that's good. Right now he's purring away beside me on the couch will I'm working.

My niece had a cat that would run like a maniac when it was awake...but became a puke machine whenever she was in the car. Cat could eat 6 ounces and puke 6 pounds. It was magical.

BTW, don't pay market value for a super white Toyota Yaris in Lubbock. Odds are it still smells like cat puke.
