I wonder if it will work the same with a manual..will make my life easier.
This guy has a part out truck, the frame is totaled. He wants to sell engine/trans/xfercase for 2500. I can’t decide if I want it all, because everything has 209k on it. I don’t really want the engine and transfer case but he said if it comes to it I can have the trans for 1k which seems like a good enough deal to me.

Wait sorry it’s early. You just said you have an auto ecu with a manual and it’s running fine. If thats the case I don’t see why I couldnt swap my trans and have no issues also..

I wanted a DCLB but I want a manual trans, too. Glad I'm subb'd for awesome intel. Would love a manual trans, manual transfer case from an FJC someday.

The truck I wanted was a manual but before I could buy it I found out it had been stolen at one point. I didn’t want to find any surprising so I had to back out. Then I could only find autos in my area so it’s what I have to work with now. This manual swap sounds like a fun time to me. I am trying to justify it by having an automatic subi as my “daily” if I need to.

Keep us posted and make sure to document with a swap thread...just for me. Haha! But I'm sure I'm not the only one who's interested. Thanks!

Impressions on my first commute with the new tune: The truck is much more responsive and doesn't lug at lower RPMs as it did before (6 speed truck). Flat ground 5th will easily accelerate at 35MPH where it used to lug a bit and lumber up to speed (265/75R16 tires). I will take note of how it climbs two hills on the way home. I used to have to shift to 5th or 4th stock depending on the speed entering the hill. Full throttle, higher RPM acceleration doesn't feel as big of a change as the everyday part throttle areas. It's a much better driving truck now.

I don’t want to totally mislead you guys, but the reason my dash isn’t a Christmas tree is due to HPTuners.

The Auto ECU will run the truck. Everything from idle, driving in town, highway cruising is “A OK”.

Interestingly enough there may be some reduced rev-hang here as well, but that is just a preliminary observation. I’ll have to go back to a manual ECU to confirm, as I installed a lightly ported plenum, @Roostfactor ported lower intake manifold, TRD 455cc/min injectors and URD Headers. I doubt these mods would affect the casual observation but I’ll confirm when I go back to a manual ECU.

Huge, Huge shout out to @HPTuners for their behind the scenes help. #HPT4Life! :headbang:

Interesting so in the medium low TPS 2200-4100 rpm range you have it switched over to long intake runner mode? Any specific reasoning?

I was going to do some testing of 25 and 50% throttle runs 1st through 2nd gear of my previous ACIS tests a few pages back to see how MAF numbers are affected to maybe make some adjustments of the throttle at which ACIS comes on etc.

I don't have data to support it at the moment, but "feel" tells me long runners in Mid/Lo is a happy place. I'll be doing a whole bunch of testing in the coming days/weeks as I just did some pretty big changes to my setup. Unfortunately we're potentially going to 24 hour operations at work due to the flooding occurring here, so garage time might get short.

But so you guys are aware, tests are being done to get to the bottom of Rev-Hang, so this is active and underway.

The AFe comes with a 4” to 3.5” reducer. I might order different parts later so it can be 4” the whole way.

Still waiting for my other pieces to arrive, but the scoop is on and it’s outlet appears to be pointing in a good direction.

Nope, the only interference I ran into was a bundle of wires I ran from the driver side to the passenger side. I only needed to reposition them slightly.

My shroud and reservoir are sort of custom. The reservoir is mounted lower than the FJ and doesn’t interfere.

I do intend to make a strictly tech oriented post (though I wonder if it's possible to have a tech only thread on this forum at times :D)
