I only had it mounted to the bed in two places. It was solid. 99” long. I tucked it back to lessen the chance of it becoming an issue. Worst case I could pop it off with 4 bolts if it became an issue.

Just plate the frame less a lot less frame flex to cause the cab and bed to flex separately

You need to come down to Charleston and go sleep on the USS Yorktown and get a feel for what being in the Navy is. Also the USS North Carolina Battleship in Wilmington you can go on tour. So they have chambers and numbers written above all doorways/hatches so you know where on the ship you are located. Starboard, Port, fore and aft. I think my great uncle just rolled over in his grave hearing this. He would be sorely disappointed knowing that there are "sailors" that don't go on ships today.

You have baffles in your gastank and a little sump area for the pump but mostly they are used as noise reducers unless you are carrying a shit ton of fluid. Then they are used to slow movement down so that to not make the load shift hard. Think of a tanker and what could happen if the load shifted hard around a turn it could roll.

 

Nope you just need to ride/watch a truck with a braced and plated frame far less frame flex which is where you get the difference in bed and cab movement.

 

I know a guy that mounted a tube above the rear wheel inner fenders as his tank. No one knows it's there. Then he has a little RV pump in one of the bed cubbies and plumbed a line to the tank. It's a pretty sick little set up.

 

Then you don't get the solar heating of having it on the roof.

 

Wrap it in 12v heat tape problem solved for the cooler/colder months.

 

I mean I've never been in a rating or position that went on ships. I joined under a special operations contract, got hurt and had surgery before I finished training, and ended up in cyber security. There are only a few CTN billets that go on ships. It's great.

 

Did this once. Drove from Myrtle Beach on our Harley's. We stopped at every bar down and back. Worst crab cakes I've ever had were at some restaurant in Charleston, on some river. They had green peppers in them. The Yorktown was cool AF though. The flight deck needed some touch ups here and there but that is the ultimate non-skid surface!

Right, I know, which is why I brought it up. I plan on mounting mine to my cheap OEM ebay copy roof rack and while I am sure the screws into the roof are sound, I doubt the ability of the cross rails to withstand 83 pounds of water going from XX mph to 0 in an emergency. The whole setup could become a torpedo with wings.

 

Ahh. Gotcha! But will it stop it completely? That is the question.

 

With a little more bracing and some more plating under the cab it should be completely alleviated

I suppose with extra water on hand this is not a bad deal for winter camping.

 

Yeah that would not be good having a water torpedo. But it really won't have issues with hammering until it's below full and enough space to get some momentum. If you are running a constant speed it's still kinda static so it wouldn't get to much of a run or time to gain speed.

 

This was home made as well out of PVC just in a hidden mounting location

 

Foe sho! I need new tires before fall, but have to be able to get an alignment so I dont scrub a new set of tires due to my poor alignment.

 

I think i am gonna get some Dirt King LCAs to finish off the front end. Lets figure out a time this fall

 

Sounds like a plan! I still need to source some LCA's hopefully lightly used from the marketplace so I dont have to fork over 286 a piece for new OEM ones.
