I just used the old ones, I tried shaving them down. The carpet is so thick on the floor and then being thick on the cover was too much for mine.

After a failed state inspection, I replaced the rack and pinion. Went with Toyota parts, very impressed with how it drives now, very tight steering, like new.

I started on the pinch weld mod. Couldn't find a write up with good pictures, I read adventuretacos write up but it didn't have before pictures of the driver side.
I notched the tab where inner liner attaches and also near the bottom and beat then to the outside. Broke a bunch of clips on inner liner and fender flares so I have some on order that should show up tomorrow.
I'll put some seam sealer and paint then try to massage the inner fender after I get the clips on.Then I'll start on passenger side.

Should I go up higher after the hole for the liner?

Just look at the build thread
What's the proper gear ratio for 35s for a V6 auto?

It really depends on how bad you're rubbing. The less you have to trim the better, see where it's still rubbing if at all and go from there.

Have you tried pushing the wheels further forward with your caster alignment to see if that helps? Once I got 3 degrees positive caster up front it moved my tire another half inch or so away from the pinch weld.

I haven't done anything with caster, need to find my last alignment numbers. I'll see how this works, then maybe try an alignment, I've got stock UCA's right now though.

Edit: Need to update my profile pic but I'm running 285/70/17.

Pro tip: that's not a Phillips head screw, that's a JIS screw. You need a JIS #2 bit to properly fit that - as you've found out, a Phillips will strip it easily.

ratBassards want something like $150 to diagnose
I just wanna talk with a cotDamn mechanic to explain and see if they have ever heard of something like what I am experiencing

either the AC idler possibly. Or the AC pump bearing.

Or a u joint, though I don't see how that is connected to the AC being off. Still, its an old ass truck. Check your rear most U joint at the diff. just grab the drive shaft and twist it and move it up and down side to side. If it moves, thats one of your problems.
