Suspension Install; anyone want to help/tips?

Now that is weird. Correct A for Drivers and B for Passenger. Hmmmm.. now that is a predicament.

Rained from 9am to about 11am which is when I started pulling tools out.

Supposed to start again in less than an hour so I guess I'm done for the day.

A lot of it is self-explanatory; it's the small obstacles that were a bit of a pain to overcome.

Shocks came off stupid easy which is why they weren't even mentioned here.

As for the bolt on the front end of the leaf spring, I removed the bolt from the outside with a 19mm socket, and a long breaker bar (1/2" drive).

 

So, took about half an hour and got not just the driver but also the passenger side bolts in.

Ratcheting strap definitely helped!

Don't be afraid to wrestle with and manipulate the rear axle. I was afraid of shifting it too much but it's exactly what I had to do to get everything lined up.

 

As you can see, it's already rained a few times.

Hoping to get the exhaust cut when it's not raining, then go inside and push out the bushings on my fox shocks. Once I get the shocks installed, it's all over.

 

Looking good! I left my exhaust intact for the time being - didn't want to cut it and hasn't been an issue so far. Don't forget the BPV bracket - be it homemade or otherwise.

I figured the exhaust would be making constant contact with the leaf.

No contact

 

The hard part; getting the bushings out of my current shocks.

I don't have a large enough socket to use around the eyelet (larger than the bushing). Will see if buying one and using the long bolt/socket method works.

 

Bitch and a half but it's done!

Took longer than I wanted but I also had errands to run.



Now I just need the rear to settle...

 

A great way to get that rear end to settle in is plop a Drifter on it!

I have no experience with Fox at all - are your front adjustable? might be able to even it out a bit (?)

New tires will definitely help fill in a little of that space... Looks good! Congrats on knocking it out on your own!

 

Exhaust had to go

Fronts are Fox 2.5 and adjustable. I left them at the factory preload and feel like I got 2" of lift. Didn't want much lift since I wanted a cushy ride.



The difference between stock and the Fox shocks, installed them last week.
