Where do you ground stuff?

Any good areas to ground things? My negative terminal and battery ground are getting full with my lights, sound system, horns and halos. I need to organize it a bit. Thanks!

 

Sounds like you need a sPod or something like it...organizes all the wires for accessories in your engine bay.

That's a little more than i want to spend for just a few grounding points Haha. My wires are organized. I just want more ground options

You could get a simple ground bus. I'm curious how you're powering all that stuff though. Do you have an auxiliary fuse box?

 

My auxiliary fuse block has a ground for every circuit. I got tired of having wires running every which way.

It’s not good to ground directly to the battery. Any bolt that is ground will suffice, however is using sensitive equipment just be cautious of ground loops that can induct noise

I thought it was the opposite.

I’m about to run a cable from my battery to the bed for power. I have cable to run to the ground of the battery and was going to set up a bus to ground everything (lights and usb chargers).

But I did always hear that a ground is a ground is a ground....

You should definitely get one. Someone posted a really good one in here that doesn't even need a ground bus. It's all in one box clean and safe.

 

Yes sir, been meaning to do it for my truck as well because same as you I too have a ton of negative wires hanging around the battery.

It’s best to keep your ground point as short as possible. It kind of doesn’t make a whole lot of sense with electrical theory, but run a high powered amplifier directly to the battery, vs a short solid chassis ground and you will see just how much more strain it puts on the system. Will grounding directly to the battery still work? Yes. But it’s not the best way to do it.

 

Go to the home cheapo electrical department. Near the panels and circuit breakers should be ground bars. It's skinny with lots of screws in various lengths and it has an L bracket for mounting. Mount that, and transfer everything from the battery the large holes in the ground bar will take a #3. Run that to the battery negative or bolt it with the battery ground in the truck.
