    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
I see that this is listed as an item that has been discussed in this thread.

Spectre Performance 9751 Black 4" Air Duct Hose https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001OMM7HM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_D9G1Cb2P3WQQ5

Is that because the rubber hose that comes with the snorkle collapses with a supercharger? (Forgive me I don't want to browse 57 pages of this thread to find out).

I have the snorkle on the way now. Plan on supercharging at the end of this summer. If I'll need to upgrade the hose, I'd rather do it now.

I heard that was an issue with some other cheap snorkel brand...starts with a W...but I Haven't heard of that being a problem with these snorkels

I was the one who put it in the thread. Was thinking of bypassing the plastic solid piece after the snorkel rubber hose. Wanted to explore other options for an air tight seal. You'll be fine. If the rubber hose was an issue for SC owners, would've seen it come up by now.

So how's the plastic holding up? It's only been a few months since install, but after my original shitposting of the "cheap chinese" plastic, I'm genuinely curious.

Mine's great, no complaints here at all after ~ 7 months of having it on. I wipe it down with a little Armor All every now and then and it shines like new.

The two little metal screws that hold the face plate to the head of the snorkel got rusty after seeing a few snow trips but nothing that can't be fixed by using better quality screws. I'll probably just pick up some black ones actually

Anyone have a CEL go on after install. I got a mass airflow code P0171 System to lean. Truck started sputtering and I cant seem to figure what it is. I've cleaned sensor out already. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

That's odd, the snorkel shouldn't have anything to do with that code unless for some reason something went through it that messed up your MAF sensor.

p0171 is almost always vacuum leak related, somewhere after the MAF sensor.

How long after you installed the snorkel did the code pop up?

The fact that it's sputtering makes me think that maybe there's an air leak after the MAF, maybe it got moved around and the intake material cracked or split open?

It happened about 2 weeks after Install. The sputtering recently got really bad. You think maybe theres just a leak. How do i check for that?

If it's sputtering it has to be a pretty big leak. I had this code for over a month and was pulling my hair out trying to fix it, a master tech at Toyota eventually found a small vacuum leak behind my supercharger. But the entire time my truck ran just fine. So if your's is sputtering, the leak has gotta be pretty bad, in which case it should be pretty easy to track down (if it is a leak that's causing it).

Check all your vacuum lines and check the intake tube after the MAF sensor to see if maybe it got cracked or split open somewhere when you were installing the snorkel.

The other thing it could be is a bad MAF sensor. Sometimes if they get dirty or damaged enough, cleaning them won't fix it (also be sure you only use MAF cleaner, not electronic cleaner...that stuff will ruin it). If you can't find any air leaks and cleaning the MAF didn't fix it, then my money is on you needing a new MAF sensor. They don't last forever especially with high miles. Make sure you get an OEM one because the aftermarket ones never work right.

@Des0911 what kind of air filter do you run? Paper or is it one of those oiled K&Ns?

I will try to track down the leak tomorrow. But I am running the k&n filter. So is there a way to track down a leak or should I just go buy new vacuums hoses?

When was the last time you oiled your filter? Perhaps the increased airflow helped to push more of that oil gunk and the MAF just needs a good cleaning (?)

Might want to deep six that K&N thing and go back to paper or the AFE drop in. Have had it for a few years and no issues (no oil needed). https://afepower.com/afe-power-31-10013-magnum-flow-pro-dry-s-air-filter (shop around though, can find a better price). Never again will you have to oil that K&N ;)

The stock paper filter is fine too :)

Do any of you guys running this snorkel have ditch lights installed also? I contacted CBI, but they were unable to give me a solid answer, just that there may be people who do.
I have been considering purchasing a snorkel for some time, other things I need first, like a stock air box. Currently I have a pair of LED pods on CBI brackets, actually pointed off towards the ditches, and I am wondering if there will be an interference problem.

My CBI ditch brackets interfere, just angle grind off part of it, drill a new hole closer to the bend, paint the bare metal & reinstall light. Super easy, not a reason not to buy the snorkel IMO :hattip:

I believe Rago fabs mounts will not be in the way. I've got their ditch light mounts installed, but haven't gotten around to installing the lights or snorkel. (Gotta love working 7 days a week on 'salary')

If its sputtering it could have airflow problems...as in not enough, only time my truck sputtered is when I checked to make sure my snorkel was sealed and i put a plastic bag over it restricting airflow. Just a thought...it could be not snorkel related

I'm sure you've heard it before but those oiled filters are notorious for gumming up MAF sensors to where they need replaced.

Similar to @Prayn4surf 's post...I wonder if the truck isn't getting enough air maybe someone shoved something into the snorkel that's constricting it's airflow? Or maybe a piece of plastic got sucked in and wedged in there?

I don't know if that would throw a code but maybe it would if the truck was able to get just enough air to run but not enough to run well.

Thanks fellas, answers a question, and brings up others.

With the CBI brackets, could a bit of massaging with a heat gun to the snorkel tube give enough clearance to not modify the brackets? Or, in your opinion would the tube not survive?

For the Rago Fab brackets, do they raise and lower with the hood, or are they stationary? If they raise with the hood, will a co-mounted CB whip hit the windshield when the hood is opened.

I don't think anything would absolutely stop me from adding a snorkel, just want to have solutions for potential obstacles already thought out. I guess for the price of the snorkel, I wont be out that much if I get it in my hands and bust it in the process.
