    This,

There's a whole thread where people run the spare steelies with the oblong hole full time. No issues or deaths reported in the thread so far.

I think its the lugnuts that are the issue they are a MAG style nut with a washer for use on the OR Alloy rims whereas the steel rims use a Acorn style without washer, so I would assume using the spare diligently and maybe reduce the speed down when using the spare cause those wil hold up but aren't really designed for long term use on the steelies

Yes, that is most likely where the speed limit comes from as the wheel/tire combo is capable of whatever speed rating the tire is, which is well above what the manual says.

I never had any problems getting tires on base in Germany, but that was 10 years ago. Things must have changed.

So I was trying to get the original stock tire but they can't order them cause of EU specs. I contacted the PX and they weren't able to get them as well. I'm just going to get a new set from Amazon.de

Are you an American living in Germany? How'd you get your Tacoma over there?

I'm stationed out here. Been here all together 5 years. Spent 3 years in Baumholder and alittle over 2 now in Grafenwöhr. They have a company call Military Auto Source (MAS) that will have vehicles shipped out here for sale.

Cool! Have any trouble registering it over there? Passes safety and emissions tests?

Hard for me to imagine driving down the streets of heidelberg in a tacoma. Better than a full size though.

I haven't had a problem at all. Pretty tight in parking garages though.

As a German I would suggest you to just go to a local TÜV or Dekra (safety inspection agency) and just ask them what cheap possibilitys you have. I guess they are quite willing to help you as an American.
For example you are allowed to use different tires on the front and back axle, as long as the tires on the axle are the same and all tires have the same size.

A Tacoma would be easy. I had my Chevy Avalanche over there. Got tight in a few places. Was nice to have the big truck at times though.
