I've been using a double V in the bed. It's ever so slightly wider than the width between the fender wells, but you really don't notice it when you're on it. It's fantastic and unlike cheaper options, this doesn't leak. Exped does make some of the best mats in the business (we backpack with a Exped Synmat HL Duo), but Klymit mats are a great bang for your buck option. They even sell an insulated one that is significantly warmer than this one.

Here are a few pictures of it in my short bed.

Not a problem if you use the slip cover it comes with. But as mentioned, use a blanket below and above for confidence

Resized_20170604_203402001_8559.jpg A double air mattress fits dclb perfectly. It pinches between the the wells but it blows up according, or even better on a platform in the future

@mario23_15 Thanks for sharing the pics! I just may have to buy one of those pads for sleeping in the bed of the truck or just general tent camping with my wife.

Might be a little bulky, but I typically use carpet padding when camping. It's pretty cheap and you can layer them together if you want more padding. It would be very easy to custom fit it into the bed of the truck.

Get the medium. It’s 42” between the wheel wells and fits perfect.

You don't buy a truck for its fucking fenders!

I bought a trifold memory foam mattress because I was tired of being on the ground in the morning with air matresses. Best sleep I've ever had camping. It takes up a lot of room, but its pretty light so you can just stack it on top of your truck and tie it down tight.

Do it! My wife and I use the DUO size when we camp in our ground tent and it's amazing...seriously on par with our at-home bed comfort. I also just got the REI mailer and I saw the sale...you're never going to find it cheaper.

I'll second the double V. Packs down very small as well.

Otherwise, REI has some store branded self inflating mats that have slightly higher insulation value and also pack up very small.

debatable. air mattresses, at least those used for camping and backpacking are equipped with specific materials that raise the r-value and keep your body heat from being leeched into the ground, or whatever is underneath you. I have a Klymit air mattress like someone on the first page mentioned and it's great and has an r-value of 5 which is pretty damn warm for the pure air mattress world. Exped makes really nice ones too that generally are much warmer but they're heavy(er) and I've heard from a lot of people at my work that they're very delicate. I like Klymit because being a pretty heavy guy (250lbs) I tend to bottom out in air mattresses but with the Insulated Static V-Luxe I cannot touch the ground even as a side sleeper.

Curious as to what tent this is, and if you can easily dissconnect to leave tent setup and use the truck to venture away from camp site?

I bought an Intex full-size for about $12. Cheap, effective, replaceable, fits perfect.
