Yeah. I've been seeing it around. I've also seen motorcyclists breaking it. the posted speed limit's like 50 or higher and they're filtering. :/ awkward. Even have a friend who's admitted to breaking it already.

Just a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

Had a motorcyclist on Bangerter a couple days ago filter up through the right turn lane as the light turned green. He then gunned it and cut across all three lanes in the intersection...continuing on to weave in and out through traffic that had just turned onto Bangerter....

Filtering is actually a safer practice for the motorcyclist. But only if practiced in the intended way and with a driving culture that doesn’t react needlessly aggressive. It’ll take at least a year before I think most people will feel comfortable with it.

Agreed ... Works great in California where people are used to it, but I can see a disaster on Utah roads with unaware drivers getting vindictive.

Also there’s a difference between filtering and lane splitting

Agreed. Initially what I observed the rider do was filtering, albeit illegally because it was on a roadway with a speed limit over 45 mph. What he proceeded to do as he entered the intersection and thereafter was straight up lane splitting.

Even where people are used to it there are a lot of accidents still. Had a buddy die out there in Cali, was splitting and someone changed lanes on him. People need to be attentive when driving, including bikes. I see so many people on bikes fly on the freeway zipping in and out of lanes and it's just asking for an accident.

This is my gripe too. Doesn't matter if I see them or not. If they are driving recklessly, they are the biggest part of the problem.

I love bikes but it's just too dangerous anymore to ride. Especially with people on cell phones it's just not worth it to me.

Yeah. That's one of the reasons I don't go get a bike. I'm deathly afraid of other people.

Everything is a measured risk. I just choose to stay off the interstates and out of traffic.

I doubt it will atleast take a year for people to feel comfortable with motorcyclist filtering through lanes. It snows every year and people act like it's their first time driving in that sh!t.

Yeah, and all the parents who aren't paying attention to the roads...because they're too busy on their phones or watching their kids...

Yeah that's probably what I would do if I got a bike. I would just haul it on a trailer to some backroads somewhere and ride lol if I were to get a bike this would be it. Honda CB750, I love the cafe racer look.
