You'll be happy with MT90, it's pricey but you can really feel the difference in the smooth shifting when you do.

 

Not so into the smell of gear oil?
The most unlikely place I’ve ever come across it was on top of a 14er. Long story short mountains do bad things to airplanes when the pilot miss judges his elevation.

Did you just do a drain and fill or the whole pump and dump shabang timmy the toolman style

 

I'm weird in that I actually really like the smell of gear oil....fresh gear oil mind you. Old gear oil esp when it hasn't been changed in forever smells like ass.

 

Worst part was, ruined my crystal gayle shirt.

Drain and fill. No need to do anything fancy with the manual trans like that, unless maybe you're having issues or suspect there's something in the old fluid that shouldn't be in there.

 

nope all is well, just really OCD about preventative maintenance. Truck was well cared for but the guy was kind of an idiot. Forgot some simple things, coolant flush, etc.....

 

How much does it end up being. Like 4 quarts IIRC?

 

yeah a coolant flush is one thing but the manual trans is a simple thing really and gear oil isn't all that complicated. Draining it will get most of it out and it won't hurt anything to mix what's left in there with the new stuff.

 

Gallons? Nooo...just one of those big gallon jugs of MT90 if I remember right.

Maybe 2?

 

It's just 2.5 or 2.7 quarts, so one gallon jug should be enough. 4 quarts to a gallon

it was about the only place it fits, it's not for serious watching; I usually throw a podcast or music videos on there.


My buddy did come over and watch some that 70s show while I was working in the garage one day. His sister-in-law and other relatives were in town and he wanted to escape lol
