    Hi Guys.
I bought a 2013 a few months ago, and the tps light has been on since I got it. The truck has aftermarket rims on it so I assume there are no tps in them... but is it possible to get the light off the dash? I have turned the key to on and held the button down, but nothing happens, and yes the pressure is correct...
    Thanks for the help!

You can ignore it. You can put in sensors. You can put tape over it. You can disconnect the system. Not sure for all years but i believe the reciever is under the headliner on the back driver side.

I've chosen to ignore it for the past decade

Def do this ! Have you had a shop check for tpms? Some are nice enough to do a quick check with the tool to scan for tpms.

Does it flash a few times and then go solid? That means there's no sensors/dead battery/not reading, etc. If it just stays solid and never flashes, then it's your pressure in one of the tires. My bet is no sensors at all.

    Yeah.
Usually the spare on a Tacoma does not have a sensor. None of mine have had a 5th sensor. 4Runners have all 5.

I used a piece of electrical tape.

Depends on the year. Some of the earlier second gens do. I don't recall the exact years.

    Yeah.
That makes sense. I had a 2009 and a 2012, neither had a 5th sensor. Haven't checked my 2018. Probably a cost-cutting thing. Every spring and fall I get the "My butt light is on" from my wife as temps change and the spare goes out of range.

If you have metal valve stems with threaded nuts that look like this, you have TPMS sensors. If you have rubber valve stems, they could just be plain old valve stems, or they could be aftermarket TPMS sensors.

If you have chrome valve stems like this, you don't have TPMS sensors.

2005 also has the sensor in the spare.

I also use a small piece of electrical tape.

Pretty sure they stopped putting a sensor in the spare after a certain year.
