6 speed manual?

Got my eye on a 2016 TRD Sport dbl cab 6 speed manual - being used, curious how long theclutch can last in these?

 

Depends on how you use it. But 100k should be expected. Many people get 150K. Towing or rough off road and you may get less.

 

2 days. Get an automatic!

 

It depends a lot who drove it. These trucks require very little throttle to get moving. 1k rpm max when engaging clutch with regular driving. Some people use too much throttle to get moving , thus burning clutch.

If you know how to drive MT without burning the clutch, it should last like others said, 100-150 k miles easily.

You can kinda feel when the clutch is worn if you ve been driving MT for a while.

Thanks Guys. I learnt on a tractor (MF35) as a kid, have had a few manuals over the years and miss it.

Don’t really need a full size anymore, looking at trading my 17 Ram Hemi crew for a 16 Taco a trd sport manual.

I love my truck, and the MT in it. I had 4 cars, 2 trucks, All MT except for one car and this is by far the best vehicle ive ever owned. I smile inside everytime i drive it. All the best man

 

i hope longer than the 2nd gens. not the actual trans per se but i remember when i had my 08 xrunner and 13 trd off road, those to bearings starting squealing at around 15k! lol

It's not directly comparable, but I have the original clutch and 128K on my 2010 PreRunner MT-5. I agree that the V-6 clutch does take less engagement abuse because it's a lot more torquey than the I-4.

RE: The MT clutch lasting 2 days. Did you ever try to bump-start an auto? lol

 

Like others said, depends on how much and how one drives. I put about 225k on my old 85 before I replaced the clutch and it was not even slipping.

 

Love my manual. I would expect if you aren't towing a bunch that it will last a couple hundred thousand miles. Swapped a transmission on my daughters audi a4; 300k miles, couple dozen track days, taught her to drive on it, and disk didn't look worn...
If you don't slip the clutch, it will last a long time.

 

Driven manuals for 15 years, only ever replaced two clutches and one was due to a defective slave. My Civic's stock clutch lasted to 220K. My buddy got 280K out of his 1st Gen Tacoma clutch. Currently at 180K on my 2004 Taco's stock clutch.

Given that manuals are so hard to find in this truck, I find it unlikely that many people who aren't experienced with manuals would go out of their way to get one. I'd say go for it if you like driving a stick.

yup. if maunal trans is an option then thats what im gonna get. if my trd sport sequoia was manual i woulda got that puppy in standard too. imagine notching into every gear in that big bit-- cause you just couldnt help yourself and sourced a short shift kit for said application lol. yes thats also a requirement for me. if its manual, it gets a short throw with a weighted shift knob.

 

I really wanted the manual transmission. It was a better truck. BUT!!!!! My wife said no. She has to drive it sometimes. Married life.....

 

i hear ya man. sometimes you gotta appease to the masses. sucks when the wifey is over there wardening the shit outta everything lol.

 

Automatic all the way! Much easier to get road head!

 

the manual drives fantastic. I also added a billetwerks weighted cueball style shift knob.
