I own both. The Jeep will eat the Tacoma alive off-road. The Tacoma is much nicer to take long trips in.07FD21A0-C92C-4C84-9D3D-74620174783C.jpgD51EBCED-9B0C-4926-AD88-29DD937EE56A.jpg

Ive owned a Jeep or 2 in my days and everyone has hit it on the head. Jeeps serve a different purpose when comparing to the taco. If you're wheeling hard I would get a jeep.

Just kidding, I’ll stick with my taco. Had a Jeep Cherokee Loredo and it was badass in snow, mud and loved the full time 4x4. But, the 5.2 V8 killed me in gas. Also a/c didn’t work. Or the radio. Or the electric windows. But, it was fun off-road just not reliable.

The Tacoma handles daily driving chores like to and from work, grocery getting and does well off roading to a certain degree. When things get hairy I switch to the big dog below. She's certainly not a Jeep but there are plenty of things it can do that the Jeep can't and it'll get into places a Jeep can't possibly trek to.0206001433.jpg

I owned a JK Unlimited Sport for 5 years and never had a lick of trouble or warranty work done. I only put only 33k miles so that may have had something to do with it. I purchased it for $26,500 brand new and sold it for $24,000 5-years later. Like a Taco, the resale value is phenomenal.

I Had two JK’s (‘12 & ‘14) they both had issues including needing a brand new engine at 2k miles on the ‘12, went to ‘15 aluminum F150 ecoboost had even more mechanical issues than the Jeeps... now have two ‘17 Toyota’s and haven’t had any issues yet after 2 years. That was just my luck some people have no issues on their jeeps

Umhm...the cement truck wind noise, the ice-cream truck handling, the flimsy body panels, the eBay-grade plastics, the Truman-era build quality, the Soviet-like dealer service... Oh...how I miss my Jeep... It’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand...

I love the Wrangler. I would buy one in a heartbeat if it was manufactured by Toyota.

+1 My neighbor bought an early '19 Jeep and within 600 miles, the steering came loose, literally, you could turn it 6" either way and nothing! Once fixed, I went with him and between the tire and wind noise, it was like eating in a over crowded restaurant with hard walls/floor/ceiling. But it has its habitat in the back country at <10mph speeds without peers; if that is all you are looking for.

I have a 1974 trail built CJ-5... and hands down even after driving my buddy's 92yj 350/350 and 33's with 4.10 gears.. it was a beast offroad, but onroad it was loud, uncomfortable, and just not practical for the long hauls I want to do eventually. when my wifes car "died" lot compression on cylinder #2 on a 11 year old car... I went looking.. looked at used jeeps (too pricey for what they are..), looked at full sized trucks (I couldnt justify needing a full sized truck, nor could I justify the fuel and additional costs), I looked at mid sized trucks.. the chevy ZR2 diesel was too pricey, the ranger wasnt out yet, and the gladiator was still in the works.. I found my 2016 tacoma TRD OR DCSB used with 20k miles on it, clean, no defects other than a few bed /tailgate scratches. for $29500.00... I am happy with my decision, and stick with it even with the Gladiator out, as well as the Ranger.. I get 17-18MPG average, and I can get to work no matter the weather. The wife inherited my slightly used 2013 mazda CX-5 sport AWD.. she was happy with the upgrade from her 2007 mazda 6..
