are you going to re-stripe that tailgate to what it originally looked like?
the original decals (if they exist for the tailgate) are about $70 (or that's what mine were from a Kentucky warehouse sitting on a shelf for 20+ years)
... I believe there is a graphic artist on TW that can also replicate decals unless that's not your plan :notsure:

I would think that fading and the peeling around back windows is sun damaged from AZ? I tried to get mine to blacken up yesterday with some black majic product, not sure it will hold since its more for rubber blackout

after i got my lower shield off it looks like it was partially undercoated but maybe was just overspray, on the other half the top layer was not in good shape, but does not seem in too bad condition that the powdercoater can't sandblast that off and make it good to go ... sure don't want a new one at +200$ ... used salvaged ones that aren't trashed are very difficult to come by

Probably just the letters TOYOTA but I want to redo them with black decals instead of white.
For the back windows I was going to scuff it all and tape it off then rattle can it.
My other concern is under the front windows, that black is coming off too, I was told that I could remove that piece but i havent checked it out yet.
I guess I could take my gas tank skid off and paint it the same as my skids so everything matches, is that a pain to take off?

    still looking for that bezel?
My nephew wants to head to the salvage yard 50 miles away when he is done with finals and look for parts on his old sebring convertible
they probably will still have the 95.5 on the lot but not sure

    ....

the lower tank shield/skid was not hard at all except the bolts I had were weathered (needed lots of wd40) and getting new replacement bolts/washers for it
just 4 of them, 12mm i think and 2 were shorter than other two, the plate is kind of heavy so I had to be careful on my back to hold the one end while unscrewing the other side so it didn't break a bolt.
luckily I recently found a place here i can rent a lift to get it back on without straining my old bones and neck

    ...
not sure if you're old enough to remember or not but way back in the early 90s all of the old 80s Toyota trucks I saw had just the letters YO on the back, at least the beaters did

i think black lettering would look sharp (not on mine though you couldn't see them!) they are grey charcoal in color

Absolutely!! If he could look for me that would be greatly appreciated
I think I can handle getting that off then, I'm fairly limber still without a lift haha
I'm 25 so not quite old enough to be around for that but I thought the black letters would look sharp too, not sure about how I'm gonna get the old off yet either.

I removed the catylic converter a while ago with some buddies but I'm pretty sure I had the OEM muffler replaced with OEM.

i was just checking on the undercoating you said was done on it before it went to MI
the lower shield on the fuel looks like it wasn't touched?

are you getting one of those after-market super duty skid plates I heard about or keeping that one?
